First of all I am sorry to hear some of you have had a really bad experience whit newfoundland dogs. I've got one my self (nr. 2) and my boyfriend had newfoundland dogs all he's life and none of them was aggressiv. and i know a lot of newf's. so it's the first time i've heard about a newf being so aggressiv. my dog would never do another human or dog anything bad, well he would lick the dog. but they do protect their family. and if a child comes near him he will lay down and let the child crawl and pull his ear and he just lay down until the child moves away then he gets up and walk away.
and i knowit dosent help you in any kind of way. but i thing it has something to do with the owners. because newfoundland dogs a calm by nature.
just wanted to say that most newfoundland dogs arent bad. it's actually one of the best family dog you can get.
(sorry for the spelling problems) and sorry for your bad experience and your lost.
