Mindhunt

by Mindhunt on 19 February 2010 - 04:02

Just moved to the area and I am looking for a trainer I can work with.  I have a K9 trained dog and a Schutzhund trained dog with me (can't be totally dogless).  I am doing ok on my own but there are just parts of training that I need an experienced trainer for.  Like catching my quirks before they become bad habits and continuing with my dogs' bite work as well as obedience and tracking.  I live in Bradenton which is an hour south of Tampa and 30 minutes north of Sarasota. I am going to grad school so my time is precious and I want to make the most of my time with my dogs (besides, training with them is my sanity saver and me time, well, us time).  I would appreciate any recommendations, suggestions, etc.  I am without my trainer friends who live back home in Michigan and I miss the company of doggie people so......HELP

Thank you all

Isn't Ivan down your way?  I thought he was near Tampa.

Ivan is in Plant City - if I lived in FL or surrounding states, I would be training with him or begging him to fit me in - there is no better.

I will third what Jim and Molly said...Ivan is a VERY good trainer. I have trained with Ivan in the past, when he was here in California, and he is awesome to watch. His knowledge is second to none.

Yep, I just did an Ivan Seminar and he is REALLY REALLY good!  I would use him hands down.  It is so great to watch him get the very best out of your dog.  There were LOTS of police officers at his seminar.

Tampa Bay Working Dog Club is in Plant City also.  Their contact info is on the USA Schutzhund website.  The club has handlers of many levels and great helpers.

Thank you everyone.  What is Ivan's last name and is he the one who does the Tampa Bay Working Dog Club?

by CainGSD on 19 February 2010 - 18:02

I believe Ivan's club is called Spirit Working Dog Club not positive on the their name.

Tampa Bay Working Dog Club is a separate club.

Balabanov, and he's one of those dreaded "Malinois" guys.

Oh, but he also competed with a gsd.   He participated with a gsd in the World's in 2008.
