Why have we not heard from the Breed Council regarding this bullying from the KC.
Why has there not been any lead from them as to the way forward.
Why has there not been any public support from them for Carol Keen regarding the Crufts interview?
Why have some of the more senior kennels not opinioned one way or the other ( is it in their case just about money-like the KC )

Arbeiter, the Clubs are the Breed Council, not Sheila or any other individual. The KC decided to bystep the BC and go directly to the Clubs on an individual basis. Its a tactic used in WARFARE called DIVIDE AND CONQUER. As a consequence of this action some Clubs have signed, some are going to sign and some are not going to sign, so since the BC is Collectively made up of all of these individual Clubs, each with their individual beliefs, exactly what type of statement are you expecting this collective Breed Council body to give?

Sorry I have a PS to the last post,

PS - At the last BC Meeting on 20th February the Clubs collectively agreed to write a letter to the KC asking them to consider removing Item 9 of the Undertaking or at least to delay the signing date of 31st March in order for us to arrange a meeting to possibly reach a compromise. I belived the contents of this letter was eventually posted on the PDB after the BC had recieved the uncompromising reply from the KC. This is/was what the BC did and NO Compromise was the KC's response.

Sorry did not realise that the Breed Council elected committe had no teeth. Most committies i have come across in the past in Unions & Football etc usually have a mandate to make decisions on behalf of its members- to save having meetings every 5minutes.
But if thats not the case with the Breed Council committe I would have thought at the last general meeting the clubs would have been ask to vote to sign or not to sign up to KC clap trap.and would have liked to think clubs would go by the result.
As for the Carol Keen disgrace-I would have liked the BC. to have at least publicly backed her and condemned the KC. actions.

Hi Arbeiter
KC rules appertaining to Breed Councils is that "They will have NO Executive Powers". In other words, as you so aptly put it, as an independant body it has NO TEETH.  Every member club can send any proposals they may have to the BC Sec to go onto the Agenda of next meeting, This agenda is sent out to each individual club secretary for discussion at Club level, each member Club sends two delegates to the BC Meeting , one to carry their vote and the other as an observer. Voting takes place on a one club one vote basis. The BC then has a mandate to act on the COLLECTIVE decisions made by these voting clubs , be that on something appertaining to the KC , Surveys, Breed Health or whatever. Without holding a meeting or creating an Agenda for Clubs to individually discuss and then collectively vote on, the Breed Council has no individual rights or bargaining power, because the KC rules forbid it from having individual Executive Powers.
Hope that helps clear up a few things for you and may answere some of the questions many have been asking or thinking about.
Best Regards
Sue

Arbeiter, i am sure your question was rhetorical, but just in case it was'nt, and for anybody who is living in a cocoon, the answer is quite simple, they are useless, in fact worse than useless, because if they had a valid comment it would have been uttered by now, but no, they sit on the fence watching, rather like Nero fiddling whilst Rome burned,   i have said many times what  i feel should be done, vote them out and start again, but it wont happen, apathy rules.

 Regards, Paul Rattigan.

NEW TO THIS THREAD
PEOPLE ARE COMDEMNING THE K.C CAN I ASK A SIMPLE QUESTION,
ARE THE SAME PEOPLE STILL HAVING THERE GSD PUPS REGISTARD BY THE KENNEL CLUB, IF THEY HAVE NO FAITH IN THE K. C THAN WHY ?

by gsm44 on 27 March 2010 - 11:03

Topcat, yes, breeders are still registering their pups with the KC but only because they have no alternative at the moment.

The public are reluctant to buy a pup without kc registration, once an alternative to the kc system is in place breeders will stop using the kc.
