Red Sable

LOL, not by me.  Is there a morning after pill for dogs?  How long ago did this happen?

I got a free pup once from such an 'oops' litter.  This pup had really bad cataracts, which never showed up in the dam's normal litters.  I guess whatever traits good or bad are there, they are magnified.  I'm not an expert, and I'm sure someone with more experience will hopefully help you, not blast you.

All the best.

I think they have a shot to get rid of the litter, but I have heard it can harm the female for future litters.  And yes, you best hang on the ride is gonna get really bumpy!

do not give the morning after shot it is dangerous.

you will not be blasted by me cause things happen.

yes red sable is right problems can be magnified and you could end up with birth defects and health issues but please do not give the abortion shot it is dangerous to the dam.

good luck,

I posted but it didn't show up for some reason.  IMO if you don't want the litter, and don't want to breed the female, have her spayed now, this will abort the litter and that's that.  If you do want the litter, and/or do want to breed her again - then let her have the litter - it will most likely be fine - many akc breeders (of many breeds) do this inbreeding and do it regularly.  As said already, you can double up on the good traits of both parents, and you can double up on the bad - possibilities of some health problems exist.  But more than likely the puppies will be ok, just sell them with spay/neuter contract or limited registration, and make sure people are aware of the inbreeding so there are no hard feelings later.

I remember reading a "James Herriot' type book a long time ago. The author's daschund dug out of his kennel one night, and mated with his daughter. All of the pups were just fine, and had no problems whatsoever.

Molly's advice sounds good to me.

Accidents happen, and most breeders eventually have an 'oops' litter, no matter how careful they are.

It is not as bad as when a brother & sister litter mates mated, in this case there is a different blood in between the mother & her son which is the father's blood line.  So do not let worry you.
