HELP!! My dog and I had a fight with flea dermititis. We won the battle against the fleas, but now there's the fallout. His hair still has not grown back on his tail. It's been since last summer. This fall I had him on pred and ancef. I've been using wound lotion (the pink bottle), on his 'hot spots'. That seems to be the only thing that I got results from. Also I'm feeding him Nutro's Sensitive Stomach Venison and Potato. It was on reference as that person's dog had the same situation and their hair grew back in. I was surprised because everytime I bought that food, his hair grew in. My problem is now that it's growing in so slowly that it doesn't seem to be growing. I've tried TOTW Venison and that did nothing. I'm on a limited budget and trial is coming up soon. He's doing so much better, but that don't look good on trial day. Can I use Rogaine or something like that? Thanks, Marcia

Are you referring to Pink Lady (wound dressing). It is supposed to promote hair growth.

No. Wound Lotion for dogs. It's by Nurti-Vet. It costs about $7 for 4 oz. where ever you can find it. Even online.

I have used Pink Lady which is for both Dogs and Horses. You may want to give it a try. Here is the Link. If you check around the Web, you may be able to find it cheaper.

I've also used Curazone wound dressing; Sulfodene liquid and 3-way ointment; Pierce's Nu-Stock ointment; Dermex; Allercaine; Fungisan; Bag Balm; Malaseb shampoo and flush, (good results when skin was open). Now that his skin is closed I'm using Tropiclean shampoo because it is soap free. I'm sure there's more but I can't remember right now.I have been dealing with this for a few years and got him tested to rule out a thyroid problem. Test came back good.

I used Wound Lotion after some hot spots and it worked great. I don't know if it will work for the dermitus it might.
It is great on any bacteria living thing on skin. I rubbed it in every other day for 1 week and no more odor or bacteria.
I think it is about $7 and it is found at Petsmart.
Made by 21st century. It was a real life saver cause I had a trial in like 3 weeks with a huge bald spot and she made it to the trial. The judge noticed it, he heard hot spot and nodded his head with a smile.

I would ask the vet but I think the wound lotion will bring moisture to the area and you might see some good improvement After one day, I don't know how bad it is, I would wash off with warm wash cloth and let it air dry for one day, then the next do another round. I will keep my finger crossed for you. good luck

you also need to add fatty acids, You can use fish oil caps 4-6 a day or We use vegetable oil sprayed on the food it gives them high gloss coats I think the fish oil tends to be anti imflammatory too and it makes the hair grow faster

Yeah, I forgot to add that I'm giving 3000 mg of quality fish oil as well as flax oil and either cod liver or A&D oil. It's taking sooooo long. I put an egg with the shell in his food, too. He's a sable that looks black & tan and the black is nice and shiny. His red points are coming darker, but his tail AAAUUUGH. Will Rogaine mess him up? If I use it will it affect his organs?
