An 8 month old GSD Pup that trains with us has a fairly narrow base to his ears. Both ears are erect but the owner is concerned because they tend to tilt inward with one leaning more than the other. Also this ear seems to turn in alittle.
We are debating on using any kind of support on his ears. She does not want to wait until it is too late but I think that over time they should straighten and strengthen on their own. I do not want to give her bad advice though. I have a picture but I do not know how to attach it to this message.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

To attach a picture, click on the yellow square with the mountain on it, the click the upload tab and it will pretty much walk you through the rest...

My girl has the same problem...Her right ear still tends to lean inward like you describe. She's ten months old, though. I don'[t know if it will straighten or not...

I had this happen in our lines, I won't say who we got a dog from that had it , but he passed it on too.. He came from many generations of OFA Ex and that was more important than leaning errect ears. We keep his daughters with good ears and don't see it very offten.
I rather have a leaning ear than a heart defect, or bad hips etc.
