I wouldn't know but I think it's relative. What is important to you wich makes that kennel so great?

To me a great kennel is one that produces quality not quantity. They produce good strong nerves, drives, etc. has proven dogs out there. How they raise the pups until they go home.

I agree with that. Completely. But that isn't for everyone. Some people want a dog to protect them, others to júst show them and don't care about the rest. Like my old ladie. When we got her she was 9. It was important to us how she would function with our other dogs, and how she would (help) raise the puppies, not how she looked. But the person who bought her as a puppy wanted a showdog, so he didn't care how she acted on other dogs or pups, just how she reacted on people and how she looked.
Well I guess you get what I mean ;-) I just think it depends on the person and what he or she wants.

Thats true Charlotte. Some people don't care about competition, showing or anything they just want a companion.I still do think that the breeding matters and the temperament of the pups and the dogs that are at the kennel and how they are raised as well like CrzyGSD said. I had my eye on a GSD from this one breeder in OR ( I was in IL) She said she would ship him to me.I said no I will come pick him up.She was amazed!! It is a far drive to get a pup.I wanted to see what the place case like and how the pups were and also I wanted to see the sire and dam. If i didn't like any of it I would have just had a nice little vacation. All went well and brought him back with me.I think this dog is the most traveled dog I have ever had.He has probably been to more states then most people!! lol

Many different "5 top kennels".
We have kennels that make the most money, kennels that have the best facility, kennels that create the best conformation dogs, the best working dogs, the best working show dogs, kennels that do some breeding and mostly bring dogs in to train and then export. There are kennels for old style dogs, for modren style dogs, for police dogs, for SAR dogs..........there is no way to say which is the best because they cannot compete with each other, can they?

Guess i should of said "Working" kennel.  For me the perfect working dog is a dog with high pack drive. Good drives (prey, food, fight etc.). Clear headed. Strong nerves. Can take a FAIR correction when givin and not climb up a leash to want to kill me or shut down. If correction are givin and they aren't fair then i can see a dog standing up for himself. Dog that is social but when he's working he's for real. A dog that loves to work and shows power doing it. And a companion :)

Working kennels

1.  Vom Riechtal USA
2. karthago Germany
3.Haus Sevens Belgium
4 Saltzablick Europe
5. The Kennel that produced Javier or the folks who own him seemed like there is an abundance of good dogs from the lines. (Excuse spellings)

Just my opinion Ike everyones

Number 1 is the Karthago in Germany, I do'tremember the guy's name, he is old now, Willie Kammer, I believe, but not sure. Produced more good BSP participants (not dogs that just "show up" cause there is a trial, but good dogs)  in the history than any other kennel anywhere.

After that, it gets a little muddled, but still a lot of good ones could be found.

Salztalblick and his wife's kennel Salztal-Hohe are good, also CONSISTENTLY (which is important! Cause every breeder can hit a jackpot here and there, but the key is to be consistant and to do it at a regular basis -that is quality breeding) produce alot of BSP and LGA participants.

Jinopo in Czech republic are good, consistently producing good dogs.

Mohnwiese also produces great quality.

In USA, Eurosport produces a lot of good quality dogs. I just watched Ozzy Barnero, a WUSV participant for Slovaks compete in our club trial this past week, and Josef and Taunya have a great breeding program, not the "best in the world" as there is no such thing, but a consistently good breeding program.

Jabina kennels in Scandinavia consistently produce good dogs as well.

Rinus Bastiaansen in Belgium consistently produces good dogs and is an honest ethical breeder that will give you or find you what you want.

There are others, too...names escape me at the moment.
