Pharaoh

Is anyone using one of these new style collars?  It looks very interesting.  The prongs are a different shape and are supposed to mimic teeth.

The structure of the collar isn't visible which is good here, on the other side of the rainbow from San Francisco.  It's very PC.

The only problem is that it is stainless steel.  Even though you can't see the prongs, it's metal.

I noticed their classic style prong now comes in antique brown.  This collar would be perfect if it were a dark color.....very discreet.  I noticed that some of the ads show a black nylon cover on the neck teck.  Does anyone use this?

Before I empty my entire bank account to purchase one of these beauties, I would like some feedback from others.

I have seen similar ones made of plastic or leather w/.spikes its really not a new concept  If it were real pricey i wouldn't bother. I don't think I would want the dog to think I was the cause of teeth biting into his neck all the time  It would make them feel more defensive than anything  I never want mine to feel defensive toward the handler

I have one of the original ProngTech with the chain you thread through and clip.  It is very nice looking but for a correction it is not as effective as the traditional HS prongs so I would not worry about it being too severe as it is not IMO.  The cloth covers that you velcro on are ugly and do not fit over the collars well.  There are HS collars that come with the cover already on and not removable  are handsome but kind of thick once on the dog.  My choice for a collar to take a dog around the general public without advertising the fact it is a prong would be the ProngTech and that is the one I use in those situations,  Barb

what is the advantage of these collars?  i wouldn't waste my money on them.  the action is all wrong.  the mechanics are completely contrary to the concept of a prong collar.  i have an ancient HS collar with the traditional martingale action that works very well.......i would never trade it for those above.  i also have several tiny tiny prong collars that i hook together and they work awsome.  great fit and you can control the dog with 2 fingers and a kite string.  no hauling and yanking - just a 2 fingered tug and you've got their attention.  i like the idea of using a prong collar like car insurance.  you've got it in place and hope you don't have to use it.  (but its there if you need it)  training is always better than correction.

Any where I take my dogs the all wear a H.S. pinch and a brass fursaver. I,ve had some people ask me about the pinch and I take the time to explain and normally there is never a issue. I look at a pinch like a paddle for the kids just because you own one doesnt mean you beat your kids with it all the time.

I personally don't care what the PC crowd thinks of my collars.  Ever seen a happy looking dog wearing a "gentle" leader?

A friend tried one out, she said it wasnt as effective as the regular prog, and it rubs fur off very quickly, even when used just for training.

Why does any collar need to be camouflaged, That is something i cannot understand, If i use a Pinch collar on a Dog it is as it is not made out to be something else just so that it may not offend some person who does not undersrand Dogs as a whole and certainly not the collar and its uses
Only once has anyone said anything to me whist i was waiting at a Bus stop with my Dog
I replied does he look as if he has been abused going by his condition and his  manner, No he does not then please mind your own business and concern yourself of your own things and not me or my Dog,
Things like that i will not tolerate at any price whether it be right or wrong i do not have to justify my self or actions with my Dog to no one

A pinch with a pinch buckle, no way, those come apart.
