Have been informed by a local breeder that the date of berth of any litter as per the SV pink papers is usually 2 weeks lesser than the actual date of birth. According to him this is usually done since the breeders prefers to wait for this period to see how many survivors will remain from each litter (in case of any mortalities whtsoever) before applying for its registration. So he advised me to always add 2 weeks to the age of my dog as per the SV papers.
Do you have any idea as to weather this is right or not?
Thanks for your help

Huh? That makes no sense. It's not like you call the SV while your bitch is in labor, lol. When you go to register them, you say how many pups there are. You're saying they register them 2 weeks later, right? So why would they have to change the DOB? I don't get it. Are you sure you understood correctly what he/she was saying?

Jennie- You are right I have not asked myself this question, may be it is the influence of this local breeder.
So you say that they put the exact date of birth.

sounds crazy to me, here we always use the real date of birth, we have to report all the puppies that are born and die by two weeks after the birth, but only pay for the registration of those that are alive at the time of tattooing. That system does not make sense at all.....and a 6 weeks old puppy does not look like an 8 week old puppy....hmmm....

OSO- So may be the date mentioned in the certificate as a DOB is the date of registration which as you say is 2 weeks later

Looking at my bitch's SV papers, there is a clear date of birth, and then date the reg. cert. was issued. On her "Rasse-Echtheitszertifikat- Korzucht-Leistungszucht-Ahnentafel" it says "Wurftag: 26.Marz 2007" and "Augsberg, den 26.Juni 2007" which I'm assuming is when this (her pink pedigree paper) was issued.
I see no need/reason to change DOB.

May be you are right Jenni, however I have compared between the dates of birth of same litters as per the pedigree database search & as theirs dates stated by the breeders in their web page & noted varying differences reaching in some cases over a month period so which one to believe at this stage. Is their any authority to control this, since some breeders likes to show their puppies of lets say 6 weeks look larger in size with massive heads.

Well, keep in mind ANYONE can change anything on this site; that could simply be a matter of someone who input the wrong date. Also, people for get that 4.7.07 means 4th ofJuly, not April 7. I have seen these mistakes many times.

The real birth date is always used by reputable breeders.
I hope it's not Frank Borowski who told you that... Just messing with you and I hope you get everything taken care of.

Adi- You read my mind. I want you to see the date of birth of the C litter of Borowski's (Ronja Grenz & Kwantum Klostermoor) as per the pedigree search & in their web page (Von Gerorga) there is a difference of approximately one month between the date of birth of this litter in the 2 locations. However playing in such information is expected from such a person.
