Shelley made it to Modesto late last night, as was told on one of the other threads. I thought I'd post a topic to make it easier for other's to find the news. The original news flash got buried. Glad to know she and the dogs are safe and sound.
I hope she's having a good long nap.

In different circumstances, following someone's cross-country trek could have actually been vicarious fun.
¶ Anyone planning a trip with only one or two dogs in a Winnebago for a dog-show circuit, or "just cuz"? :-)

THANK YOU for the help and support and kind wishes, great phone calls and cheerful banter! The journey took an amazing 17 days, most of which were spent in one town or another waiting for the van to be repaired. I don't know what I would have done without my friends, many of whom are reading this right now. More than once one or another of you guys' soothing voices dried my tears so I could think more clearly and endure one delay after another. You know who you are, and you have my heartfelt gratitude.
Three of the dogs are enjoying nice, big, covered runs here at the ranch. They handled the long trip a LOT better than I did! T and Xena are in the apartment, determined to squeeze me right off the king size bed at night. Portia (below) is kicking back waiting for her puppies in a whelping box I actually made in 1999, stored here at Gary & Peggy's all that time since. :-) Its in the living room of the apartment. (Carpet needs replacing anyway LOL) There is a private, fenced yard out the back door of the apartment for the dogs, too! So far the cows haven't come to the fence. I hope I have a camera handy the first time the dogs see them!
BTW- Portia's litter, by my "T", was bred for ME and a couple of my close Schutzhund friends... NOT for commercial purposes, as suggested elsewhere. She is ready for the SchH 1 right after she gets her figure back, (also the FH1! This bitch tracks!), and being where we are, right in the middle of the birthplace of the sport in this country, there will be plenty of opportunities to train and title her and all my dogs from now on. She isn't anywhere near 9 years old, BTW. LOLOL www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/438580.html She isn't the oldest dog I ever titled, either (That was Emma, back in the early 90's). T is 9 now, not getting any younger... hence the breeding. I KNEW I would get guff for breeding a dog with only the BH. I did it anyway because I, and a few other people, REALLY WANT the pups from this bloodline cross. (Marc Herkulesblick 3,5) They should be some pretty special dogs, if I know anything. There earliest due date is today, but I think she is going to hang onto the litter for at least another day or two. She's comfy, in good condition/general health, happy to do light exercise several times a day, and eating the bottom out of her dish, small meals, 3-4 times a day. I don't anitcipate problems with the whelping, but if something happens there are good veterinary resources in this town, available 24/7. This is the first litter I have bred in about 3 years, but I don't think the process has changed much in that time. ;-)
Unfortunately, the illness I contracted early in the journey has progressed to the point I really feel crappy. I am taking medication for prescribed for bacterial pnumonia, among others, need to get some rest depite being excited about being home at last. There is wireless internet access in the main house, but I am not in here so much, can't post to this board from my phone. Calls and direct e-mails are better... The apartment is about halfway remodeled at this point, needs a lot of work, but should be pretty neat when its done.
I hope nobody turns this thread into a pissing match. I am not online but an hour or so a day right now.
I wish the broken window in the apartment would just grow a new skin or something, but it looks like it won't, so I'm off to Riverbank to get it repaired now, then dog chores and an early night. Its going to rain here till Saturday. Good a time as any to try to rest and get well, yes?
Thanks again.

I'll have these pups when I am good and ready, and not before!

I'm glad you made it without any further breakdowns -- "just in the nick of time" if those puppies arrive soon. I wish you happiness in your new life. BTW, can't see the picture that you posted above !!
