Is Shelley in California, did she make it through the desert? That has to be a tough stretch to drive through. Anyone else ever do it? Whose got the scoop?
And if people for just this little once could keep the bickering off of this thread, the finger pointing, the how dare you's and I would have done it different if it were me, now, then I think those would be really, really nice people.

Last year I drove pretty much through everything, LOTS of mountains and desert. It was exciting for me because it my first time that far west. I do have to say, after a while, you can zone out, no change in scenery gets real boring in the desert. But, I'm sure on the last leg, she'll be getting pretty happy, hopefully. It should give her the push she needs. Has anyone heard from her?

As i have said when i spoke to her on the Phone 14 Jan 9.0clock USA time she told me she was 100 miles east of Albuquerque New Mexico and she said with a little over 1000 miles to go, so if she covers 350 miles a day i cannot see her being home until late Sat or Sunday your time
350 miles a day is good for an old motor plus she stops a fair few times to excise the dogs that takes time so how she can be in California now i do not know after what i was told by her

If someone knows how to imbed this clip, (I never conquered that skill yet) I think it might be very helpful.

Thanks Steve, I can't keep up with all of these threads, LOL. As they turn bad, I go to the next. I just can't wait to hear that she's made it safe and sound.

Well, at least she is going through some very beautiful country. There is a Sedona, AZ sunset that is indelibly imprinted in my mind. Plus, she should not have to deal with snow. Being a mechanical idiot, I don't know whether crossing deseer is better, or worse than the snow. :-)
¶Hope Spot holds up and that fuel pump is ok. Shelley will still need that van, once she gets to Modesto.

Thanks Maggie. That's classic Bugs Bunny. I admit that is the first thing that pops into my mind whenever I hear "Albuquerque" and then I think of the Hot Air Balloons, LOL
I was looking for Bugs Bunny singing "My Darling Clementine" but I couldn't find it.
I did find this, and if you take the time to watch/read/listen to all the verses, well, lets just say Shelley and Clementine both could have used a little more luck!

My first GSD's name was Clementine. I love Bugsy too!

A 4 hour radiator servicing, new fuel pump and filter, 8.5 hrs. walking dogs around yet another repair shop, a night in the Santa Rosa NM Quality Inn (great value!) and 2 of the best chili rellenos I ever had later... I am hoping to make Kingman, AZ or maybe even Needles, CA (near Lake Havasu) tonight, Modesto tomorrow night. Once we hit Bakersfield on the far side of the Tehachapi Mtn pass (6.5 % grades!) its smooth sailing up the San Joachin Valley to Modesto. I never thought I'd be delighted to see Bakersfield, but this time I sure will be!
All dogs doing great- ewating well, solid stools, drinking plenty of water, SNORING. Long walks slow the trip down, but they (and I) need the time to stretch, play, etc. several times a day.
Hope the rig doesn't have other plans.
Thanks for caring. :-)
BTW: I don't have computer internet access or time to set and write at every motel.
Job One is GET THERE. I don't think I want to read a lot of what is on this board about me right now anyway.
Hope some of you like my bent humor travelogue enough to make it worthwhile posting it here and there.

Mr. Ortega KNOWS trucks! (Crudiest coolant he ever saw)

I'll give you this little cream puff CHEAP!
Only driven by a little old lady to church on Sundays...

Fork lift not included...

I would have liked to have spent a little longer in Little Rock. ;-)
Seems this old heart ain't dead after all. Ha ha ha
ONWARD!!!
