Good evening I am also following the Casey Anthony case..very sad story...I also have a question with regards to how reliable are the dogs...I have been told that they are 'Incredibly Unreliable'....I am not so sure...
If a dog that is trained to pick up Cadaver...and another that is trained to pick up on human blood...both dogs hit on two places in an apartment...both dogs hit on the boot of the car...also key fob...cadaver dog also hits on clothing.......How reliable would this be or unreliable as the case may be . ..No one has died in the property before and a child is missing. readers what would you conclude?

Wasn't "Ironside" a TV detective?
Still an interesting topic though, how reliable are these dogs?

Hi, thanks for the compliment but neither. I am following a case in England and the dogs picked up on these areas. I also did not mention the dogs also picked up on a patch of garden just outside the apartment and the missing childs toy.
I find it hard not to believe in the dogs . I can understand the dogs picking one spot and being wrong...but several ?

For anyone that has been around dogs for any length of time, and know a well trained one with a handler that will "listen" to the dog. ALWAYS TRUST THE DOG...........................

Dogs are EXTREMELY reliable.
Training and handling however vary and a dog is only as reliable as it's training and handling. Often....VERY often it is the handler that affects the dog in a negative manner and causes the unreliable or false indications. If the scent is there then the dog will pick it up, locate, discriminate and indicate based on it's training and the actions of the handler. So when you are discussoing the unrelaibility or reliability of a scent dog please include the info on the training of the dog and the handler and the specific actions of the handler in the given example.

Thanks the Dog handler is Martin Grimes and his Senior Officer is Mark Harrison..the dogs are Eddie and Keela...These two dogs are used on high profile cases.
I have tried to post some links so that you may read up on the work of these dogs and their trainer. Your forum does not seem to take links.
The Dog Eddie who detects the smell oh human corpses has never given a false positive in 200 cases.
