Had a Dyson Animal when it first came out.  I have multiple GSDs and this beast is still working fine.  Finally talked my parents into one for their home with dogs.  Unfortunately they have cheapened them up since I bought mine.  I noticed some differences like shorter bristles for carpet cleaning, smaller canister, instead of individual attachments, I see a couple that have been combined.  They love it, but I am a little bummed that Dyson had to do this.  I believe he (inventor) is still in court over patent infringement with Hoover and Eureka and that does cost money.

I have a very expensive Rainbow vacuum, and it seems to do an awesome job.  For the price, it had better.  I've had it a little over a year.

I had heard that Dyson wasn't any better than any other bagless vacuum, but I never tested one of my own...I like the water air filtration system that the rainbow uses...It blows no dust and doesn't need any filters cleaned, also never loses suction, and has powerful rug beater.  It will actually lift the whole carpet up, pulls dirt and hair like nobody's business.  The only thing I hate about it is having to dump the water basin and clean it, and also having to store it off the water basin.  Other than that, I've not seen a comparable vacuum.

Just my opinion, as I said, never tried the Dyson, but was really impressed with what I saw about it.  I love my Rainbow, but I sure don't love that monthly payment!

I wouldn't own anything but a Dyson. I have had mine, the original yellow one, for 4 1/2 years and all I ever replaced was the clutch one time. I finally need to buy another filter, I can no longer get mine cleaned out from all the dust and dirt the dogs bring in. I only have hardwood floors and it goes from hardwood to my scatter rugs without adjusting anything. I have never had anything that sucked as good as a Dyson....the guy here said don't bother with the animal, one, I have leather furniture, so I didn't need the attachments, the cost is not worth the difference and the yellow works awesome.

I am planning on buying a second one for upstairs, so I don't have to haul it up and down, can't very easily anyhow...that is when I get rich and famous...
Anyone with dogs has got to own one of these, the only problem is that I have to empty the cartridge every half room, I have BIG hair bunnies running around everywhere with 10+ dogs running around the house...I even clean my logs on the walls with it...
ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT AND WOULDN'T OWN ANYTHING ELSE...

I've had my Dyson Animal for 4 or 5 years now and it works as well today as it did when I took it out of the box.  Best $500 I ever spent :)  I bought a replcement filter and that way I always have a clean dry one on hand.  I LOVE how the filter is washable!!

Well excuse me for asking1 was not trying to be obnoxious or rude! I have seen em all come and go ! From the kirbies and rainbows to the oricks and all those info mercials vaccumms. I even got three vacs in the garage slated for repair! one hoover that needs a brush one eureka that needs a belt and a shark that works fine. found em all in the alleys slated for the garbage dump! I' ve just seen em priced in the upper 4's at home depot and was cirious how much you paid for you'rs 1 No matter though I hope you get your use out of it1 Strange how a vaccumm that costs so much does not gurantee the motor for but a few years? I got a dirt devil and it has served me well for eight years! Next one will be central vac.

I am bummed - I didn't know that there was a special Dyson vac for animals.  I got fed up last month with all three shedding a the same time  and bought maple hardwood for the entire place.  I hasn't been laid yet - but the hair returned within minutes of vacuuming and i just couldn't stand it anymore, LOL!

I am excited, I bought one to! I bought one for daughter when she got her 1st GSD 2 years ago (sent her the pup AND the vaccum), loves it, and it has not broken down, or plugged up with 2 of them now. So I joined in....

we have an Oreck, it was $240 thru publisher's clearing house, 4 monthly payments of $60 and it was shipped to us with no money down. it's the first vacuum we ever had that gets the dog hair off the carpet. man, talk about suction, whew!

We have the old purple dyson.....and it keeps going and going
Everyday or every other I use it and dump a couple canisters of dog hair!
No wall to wall carpet...only hard wood and tile and area rugs and she plows through it all.
Even has been mauled by one dog and keeps on going....
We would be lost without her!
If only she would run on her own around the house.....
