These poor Babys are being left out in the cold all night, not even a dog house! They just run the street. I dont understand why they dont run away. They never leave our street. Tonight im letting a few of them in my house, a little half yorkie/maltese , boston terrier and a rat terrier. Its so sad, I have Three Big ol 'german shepherds and each of them sleep in the house every night ,along with my four children, husband and me. I dont understand why these people dont want these dogs in the house. Im really fixing to one by one, find them new homes. I almost think theyed be better off if I took them to one of the no kill shelters near by, Im just afraid of getting in trouble or I would. I know someone would want them. There is still two Beautiful boxers out side, I would let them in but they are in their back yards. The pair are for sale for 500 dollars or 300 dollars a peice. I know this because earlier I went to the store to buy cigerettes through the drive through and I seen their pictures hanging up. I know why they are for sale, for some reason they wont breed with each other. The man told me about  their sitiuation a year ago. I guess he is giving up, thank god. They also have a little yorkie they breed every heat cycle, and several ferretts there too, their daughter brought me one the other day, trying to sale it to me. When I told her no, she mentioned that it has cancer. They had a parrot, but they left it out side during a bad storm and it killed it. I dont know what I should do. Im sorry, for ranting I just cant sleep knowing them Boxers are out side, should I beat on their doors, the fence is electric and I dont know how to open it. Should I call the cops, they will think Im crazy especially since I have all the other neighbors dogs in the house. Trust me they are not being missed.

Some breeds are okay outside..GSDs for one..But Boxers?  Yorkies?  Those breeds don't have undercoats..They could freeze to death.  Let me guess, they don't want the dogs inside because they aren't housebroken, they chew...But can't or won't bother with a dog house?

Hope the dogs survive...Hope the owners get some brains, and thank God the boxers won't breed.

My dogs are spoiled, they wont stay out side in this 16 degree weather for 2 minutes and they are beating on the door. Yeah, these babys are not house broken, i have discoverd. Luckley I have a big kennel, all three of them fit in and they seem quite confortable for now. But I cant do this every night.

Don't know where you live, but most US states have animal care laws that require an owner to provide adequate shelter for dogs kept outdoors.  Contact whoever enforces the animal care statutes for your area--in my part of NE Michigan, for example, it's the county animal control officers--report the situation, and stay on top of them until they do something about the neglect.

While I totally empathize with your feelings... actually posting intentions to rehome dogs you don't own
on a public forum isn't a great idea...

Better that you call the town AC officer... there may well be laws against allowing animals to run at large or for not providing shelter... (In Connecticut people are required to provide at least a 3 sided shelter for all outdoor animals, even Beef cattle and such).  If that doesn't bring any action... you can also contact your nearest ASPCA organization, or do a search for rescue/ animal rights groups in your area..  You could also toss a couple old quilts down for the Boxers in the meanwhile.  We had a Dobi who used to sleep in a sleeping bag in the LR... LOL imagine an intruders shock when the bag came alive one night!

Yes, I agree.. Call Animal Control.  Every state has an Animal Control.  I don't care what kind of a dog it is.  They don't need to be outside all by themselves in the cold.    What is the point on having a dog?   I just don't get it.  There is I am sure a leash law in every state and if they leave the property, and there is no tags on them or collars,  then you can take them to a no kill shelter.  You don't have to leave your name.  Just say that I found these dogs and there is  no identification on them.  I highly doubt that people that neglectful would bother microchipping the dog.  Good luck.  We have to be these dog's voices or we are going to have another Buddy situation.  I know we all know about that POS.

For sure call animal control. They should be sited for having dogs running at large,no shelter,...there are so many things they would be in troouble for.Or as Dodie said take them to a no kill shelter and say you found them.If you know the names of the dogs just say you have been calling them that.It helps the shelter people out.I am involved with the shelter here and one of the girls told me that she doesn't care what the reason someone is bringing the dog in as long as if they do know the name tell them it. I know what you mean JLB82 there are SO many dogs that just roam here.People here are kinda backwoods mentality of it's "just" a dog who cares what happens to it another one will show up.Drives me crazy!!

And the bad thing about dogs running at large is that they can be a real nuisance to others.  I know this firsthand...have two neighbors whose dogs are rarely restrained at all...They run the neighborhood, getting into trash, whatever else they can get into.  They always go home, and they are big dogs with thick double coats so they can handle the cold and all, but I'd think they'd be worried about where their dogs are going...What might happen to them...I know it's something I would think about, and do frequently...My front window looks out onto the street, and I see them.

I would absolutely never get a dog to keep outside that wasn't built for it, anyway...Boxers, Dobies, most of the small breeds...They can freeze to death out there.  And is a doghouse such a major cost or project that they can't be bothered to provide one? AAARRRRGGG!

I still say they get cold.  Again, Why not let your dog sleep in the house?  They are supposed to be a member of the family.  Mine is always inside with us.  She is our only dog and would be so lonely outside all day, all night, so why do that and isolate her.  The point of having a dog is to have it with you.  They are social creatures and need that companionship not to just be a part of the lawn.

48% of dogs brought in to the SPCA and animal control facility's are put to sleep . They do not all have the happy ending you wish for. They are almost as bad as PETA .Think about offering the dogs the use of your crate and share your hospitality. Why not just talk to the neighbor and offer some winter help.
