Just curious about what the "standard" is.  I have a couple who bought a puppy from me a week ago.  They called last night and said they needed to return the puppy and I, of course, said fine.  When I asked why, they said that they were exhausted and that the puppy was taking more time then they thought it would.  They said that from the time they got home until they went to bed, the puppy was consuming all their time and had peed on the floor a couple of times "which they didn't like."  My answer was- DUH!

I sell all puppies on a health contract which requires a vet checkup within 3 days and they have yet to take the puppy to the vet.  I also stipulate that if the puppy cannot be properly cared for- it must be returned to me and no third party.  I never mention a refund.

What would you do?  In the past- I have refunded all but the deposit.  I'm just shocked though because I've never had anyone return a puppy for being a puppy...

Take it back quick.  Refund their money and be done with them.  They are not the type of people I would want to have one of my dogs, or any dog.
I just took one back for about the same reason.  The guy emailed and complained a little and I said "Bring him back"  I refunded him and that was that.  I dont want anyone doubting their purchase,  or the poor dog is the one to pay for it in the long run.
It has made me a bit skeptical.  I had a man that was interested in a pup this week and he about drove me crazy with his questions, undecisiveness and not being able to work out details, so finally I said no way, even though I think he really wanted the pup.
You will find an even better home for that pup.  I know it..

Good luck..

We made the appointment last night for him to bring him back tonight.  I just thought about it all day and just kept getting more angry about it!  :-)

Couldn't have said it better than Kim did. Take it back- FAST. Give them their money back, be done with them, and be extra careful in the future when it comes to interviewing buyers. They sound like fickle, irresponsible, unrealistic morons.

The funny part is- they gave me a deposit almost a year ago and we've kept in touch the whole time!  If anyone was going to be committed to the pup I thought it would be them.  I guess you never can be 100% sure.  Thank you for your inputs!
