Dog Dragged to Death...your chance to do something about it! - Page 1

OK, here is your chance to make a difference. I emailed the gentleman Paul Shockley who wrote the article about this horrific act. Here is what I wrote and the response I got.

Dear Sir,

I live in Wichita Ks. and found this story on a dog website that I frequent. To say I am sickened doesn't come close to describing how I feel. Is there an email address you can share with me so that I may contact the court or judge or county atty. about my feelings on this. I'm sure I can have responses from all over the world sent directly to the court in the hopes they throw the book at this despicable excuse for a human being. I only wish they could tie this crime to some other charge with a more severe penalty. This man deserves to be locked up forever because we know in our hearts if he can do this to a dog he will graduate to humans.

I would appreciate it if you are able to provide me with contact information as listed.

Dear Michelle,

I asked for and received your email address from Mr. Paul Shockley so that I could contact you about the despicable Steven Clay Romero.

I know that we are all considered innocent until proven guilty. That being said, I hope you are able to nail this miserable excuse for a human being.

I am begging you to hit him with every possible charge you can find related to and including the obvious act of animal cruelty. Can you not get him also for the theft of the animal? What about breaking and entering? Burglary? Would kidnapping be considered? Is there not some law he broke by committing this act in a National Park?

What I am trying to convey here is how important I think it is that he be put away for the absolute longest period of time possible. Someone who would do such a horrible thing to a trusting, helpless animal will eventually turn on the Human Race.

I'm going to share your email address with friends on a website in the hopes you get enough letters and comments about this to present them to the judge in bulk. Perhaps a landslide of such heartfelt outrage will sway the judge to order the maximum penalty that is allowed on each charge, should the defendant be found guilty.

DebbieSue:  I would not recommend people write prosecuting attorney, for the same reasons Psycht mentioned in the original thread.  That said, here is one of the sites with a petition you and others can sign regarding the bastard who dragged this poor dog to death:

Justice~~~What one feels is Justice another may feel that it still hasn't been paid~~~WHAT SHOULD ROMERO PAY???

In the case of BUDDY'S DEATH most feel that the only suitable punishment would be for Romero to be drug behind a vehicle until he dies.We all know that will never be the court judgement!!! As animal lovers ~all who are active in this website should give of their time and energy to help CHANGE how the courts define and determine suitable punishment for Animal Cruelty  and Abuse Crimes.

The Court Systems today must begin to change the parameters of what is a justifiable punishment  to be delivered.
To implement a change in what is defining the SEVERITY of these crimes that are commited daily.  Currently most are considered a misdemeaner NOT a felony.Is taking a human life considered a felony? HOW ABOUT A DOGS????

If you leave Grandma out in the cold over night and she passes away as a result of the harsh elements...
If a child were to be drug behind a car until it is mangled or dead...
If you were left without food and water and had become so emaciated that you barely could stand and covered in sores...
If YOU were beaten and kicked till you had broken bones and maybe loss of an eye or limb
HOW WOULD THESE CASES SEVERITY BE DETERMINED???

An animal(especially animals that Man and Woman decided to domesticate) deserves the same protection as any human being.The courts MUST make a change!!! Stats show there is an ever increasing number of animal abuse cases seen now.
The DEGREE of cruelty is surpassing what most people could barely fathom.The age of most of the Accused is shockingly getting younger and younger. WE MUST as a GSD group ,as an animal lover group, as a Human being take steps to create CHANGE !!!

Firstly if you haven't already signed the "Demand Justice for Buddy" Petition ~~DO SO!!
Secondly DON'T wait until someone like me posts stats or pleads for you to participate
EACH OF YOU are connected by website,business card,word of mouth,dog show,kennels,GSD chapters etc
Please in 2010 become ACTIVE in creating a change  in HOW ALL OF OUR ANIMAL'S RIGHTS CAN BE PROTECTED
Help create NEW LAWS for TOUGH Punishment for the Abusers
