OPINIONS WANTED
Something that happen to me lately, I made a deal to sell 2 dogs to a person in a different state. I also had a friend who was going to that same state and i ask him he could take the dogs with him and he said yes . i told him that the purchaser was paying for the dogs tickets and that he was sending it with the check for the dogs. The dogs were supposed to leave last Monday but the purchaser didn't overnight the check until last Thursday and THEN he sent a personal check. I receive the check on Friday at noon time and i deposited the check on Friday the same day i receive it. The bank told me they would probably put a hold on the check to make sure the check would clear. On Sunday I was supposed to call the purchaser of the flight info but when i check on line my friend hadn't sent me the info yet. So i LEFT to go to my nephew's bithday and my brother lives 3 1/2 hours away and I didn't get home until a little after a 11 PM. I couldn't then or the following morning and i call a guy to come out and fix it. But i did call the bank and they said the check still hadn't clear yet , so there was no way i was going to send those 2 dogs. I wasn't able to get back to the buyer until late afternoon because i had car trouble and was stucked for a couple of hours at then the pc guy disn't show up until just about 5PM. So about a hour or so later i was able to e-mail the buyer and tell him that his check hadn't clear yet and every other thing that happen to me.., I told him he should have sent a wire TRANSFER or a casheir check so the funds would have cleared in time because a personal check takes at least 3 business day to clear.. The first thing he call me was a liar and everything else and that he STOP PAYMENT ON HIS CHECK. So i forward an e-mail from my bank that i found on my ne-mail Monday once i was able to back online , that said that there were still a hold on the funds. Then he sent me back an e-mail and said, that it takes 6 or 7 days for a personal check to clear. So why would he send me a personal check when he knew himself that wouldn't clear in time ?

Sounds to me like you should find a different buyer.

When people get angry they often get very irrational and say things they may mean now but didn't really intend when they began.
You may not have misread him as a decent buyer, but he does seem to have become a bad one now.

Never take a personal check, the buyer should have known better. Forget it ,find new buyer and move on!!

Nice looking dog in your avatar MVF!!
Sorry, back on topic. Sad that we can't trust everyone, - although my breeder did ask for and except a personal check from me, however, I sent 1/3 prior to hold the pup. Pretty much have to have some money up front these days or pay COD.

I think everybody's just paranoid from all the horror stories we read of dog breeders screwing buyers over. It's so bad that a person has to figure out at exactly what second to sign the damn papers... Like two bad guys trying to figure out if they hand over the dope or wait until they actually get the money first. Jeeze.

THANKS TO ALL OF YOU WHO REPLIED, I WILL NEVER TAKE A PERSONAL CHECK AGAIN. I WAS JUST THINKING TO MYSELF, WHAT HAD IF I SHIP THE DOGS AND THIS PERSON RAN TO THE BANK AND STOP PAYMENT ANYHOW, THEN I WOULD HAVE HAD NO DOGS AND NO MONEY. YEA, I'M MOVING ON NOW AND FROM NOW ON, I'M ONLY TAKING WIRE TRANSFERS NOW.
