Claus has developed an obsession with the water bucket.  He is not content until he has flipped it upside down and done Lord knows what to it.  I have managed to keep it to the kennel fence with a locking threaded snap onto the bail of the bucket.  I thought I had fastened the body of the bucket tight enough to the side with the extra thick rubber bungee.  Claus apparently has developed close to prehensile paws, and somehow removes this.  I do need to be able to empty and clean the bucket occaisonally so welding it to the side is impractical.  The bucket is a nice thick stainless steel, so he can't eat it.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Drop it down inside a couple of stacked Car tyres.

I use Horse water buckets, they fit just nice and tend to stop even the most persistant water bucket fiend.

I drop my Stainless Steel Water Pail into a Concrete Planter (Flower Pot), which is the same shape as the Pail.

That's pretty ingenious Maggie!

Flat backed horse water bucket with a horse proof bucket hanger attached with 3 & 1/2" screws and hung about 6" off the ground. I can dump and refill the bucket easily or take it off for scrubbing with no trouble.
The dogs CAN NOT get it off the hanger, flip it around or climb in and dig. No chewing either.

So far it's foiled my bucket hound. The 15 pound, six gallon stainless steel mop bucket was a playtoy.

Oh yes, our Pia (the one in my avatar) loves to play "soccer" with the stainless steel bucket. She has broken numerous snaps already. I had hoped that she ditched that nasty habit while living in Germany for a while. But to our dismay we found out that old habits die hard when she came back 2 weeks ago.
Karen, the car tire method sounds interesting but I am afraid that she would just start biting and chewing on the tire and ruin her teeth. She is very persistent.
Luckily, we have no neighbors. Otherwise, we would be in trouble since throwing buckets around on the concrete and against the fence can be heard a hundred yards or more away.

I think I may look into the concrete flow pot idea.  Either that or I'll just weld up a metal stand that I can drop the bucket into.  I have to use a metal bucket because my 11 month old pup will chew/eat the plastic and rubber livestock/horse buckets.  Been there, done that.

Change to a tapered water dish made for this problem and give the dog a new object to chew on.

Object as in a new toy.
