My dog never had any health trouble, exercise a lot, beautiful dog, and no history of nothing.
Please if anyone knows a sudden death cause let me know, I was thinking that since I was not at home he might have been poison or drugged. There was no symptoms according to my dad only a little cough at nigh and in the morning he had passed away at my room.
Thanks you very much for the help if any in this case.

I am so sorry for your loss of Rommel. There are several reasons that he may have died suddenly. One is that he had some sort of cardiac arrthymia, something that goes wrong with the rhythm of the heart. Or he might have had some internal bleeding, such as from a tumor called hemangiosarcoma. Yes, if he ate something that was not something he should have had, like a medicine or ate something that was poisonous, this too could kill him. However, because you say he looked as if he was sleeping and your father had noted some cough at night, there was almost certainly something that caused his heart to fail. A cough might be a sign of an infection, but it can also be a sign that his heart is not pumping correctly for some reason and fluid is building up in his lungs.
Sad as this is, the good news is that based on what you say, he did not suffer. It is always difficult to loose a dog one loves. Most of us who come to this forum have lost a dog. My sympathy is with you.

Wow,
So very sorry for your loss, sometimes a pedigree can speak volumes of the potental health issues that may arise.
Do you have a pedigree of him, he could have had an underlying issue with his heart that you weren't aware of.
Also, if a dog has heartworm, they may have a pronounced cough cause heartworms have entered the lungs,
just some thoughts that came to mind.
Are you sure that that was his correct age, sometimes if it was a dog you got maybe from a shelter he could have looked alot younger than he was,
Sorry again for your loss,
Paula

Very sorry to hear of your loss. In our family a few months ago we lost a 7 yr old Golden Retriever who also just had developed a slight cough( as in the night before) We took him to the vet and he died that day, it turns out he somehow developed pneumonia. It was very sudden and unexpected. Everyone here is correct though, without autopsy you can't be sure. Hope your heart heals quickly, Barbara
