Question regarding horse people and dog people? - Page 1

I just happened upon Eichenluft's post regarding the nice colt, and that got me wondering how many of you are also horse lovers/trainers/breeeders as well as dog? I am asking because I myself am a retired Professional Quarter Horse trainer. I just thought it would be interesting to see what others have to say about the relationship here between the species and the connection to us animal lovers. I honestly thought I was in the minority as far as moving from training one type of animal to another but I am begining to wonder if I might have been wrong and there are many more out there like me who have combined the two loves of dogs and horses. Just wanting some thoughts and some light discussion on a topic close to many of our hearts.

Great topic.  I too am interested in hearing what others have to say. 

Reining and working cow horses for years.  Cutting horses for years.  Now relaxing on the equines and trail riding with my mules.  I think you will find many here had or have dual interests in dogs and equines.

used to ride a lot, but never do any more.  started with desert bred arabs.  hubby likes quarters so we had a few of them.  now we have just one horse, a retired racer from oklahoma- TB on sire line going back to bold ruler and dash for cash QH on his dam's line.

I think many of us have a love of animals in general, not just dogs...I'm a former horse person who can now relive a little of my former glory by helping my very talented granddaughter. I must admit, tho', that I like all dogs, but I love my GSDs.I don't have any of my pictures handy, I used to show hunter-seat pleasure, jumpers, & eventers.....breezed some thoroughbreds for spare change & fun when I was a kid. jackie harris

Started off on hunter/jumpers when I was a kid and than moved on to western futurity horses.  My first dog had Quid Pro Quo in its name because I was trading in the horses for the dogs :-)
