Might be a good budget food, but it has "menadione sodium bivulfite (source of vitamin K activity), "  have read some not so nice things about this, and all your higher quatlity dog food do not have this in them.

Used to feed Sam's Club Exceed for years at 19.98 a 50 bag, until I read about menadione s.b. and stopped, now Sam's is selling this same food for $29.98 for 50 lbs.

Have been feeding TOTW, CSFPLS, and raw, and mine are much healthier I hope!

Merry Christmas

Have you tried Nutri Source . I like it for adults. Nicest coats that I have ever seen on them. I think that i pay about $27 from the distributor.

We feed our dogs Diamond Naturals chicken and rice. It is $25 for 40 pounds. The dogs look great on it.  Here are the ingredience for it.....they are very similar to the Costco food. Since the Diamond Naturals and the Kirkland dog food is made by the same company...Diamond.
Here is the Diamond Naturals chicken....
Chicken, chicken meal, whole grain brown rice, white rice, cracked pearled barley, chicken fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols), oatmeal, beet pulp, egg product, flaxseed, natural chicken flavor, fish meal, potassium chloride, choline chloride, vitamin E supplement, iron proteinate, zinc proteinate, copper proteinate, ferrous sulfate, zinc sulfate, copper sulfate, potassium iodide, thiamine mononitrate, manganese proteinate, manganous oxide, ascorbic acid, vitamin A supplement, biotin, calcium pantothenate, manganese sulfate, sodium selenite, pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6), vitamin B12 supplement, riboflavin, vitamin D supplement, folic acid.
Here is the Diamond Naturals Lamb...
Lamb meal, ground rice, cracked pearled barley, millet, chicken fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols), egg product, rice bran, beet pulp, flaxseed, natural flavor, fish meal, potassium chloride, salt, choline chloride, vitamin E supplement, iron proteinate, zinc proteinate, copper proteinate, ferrous sulfate, zinc sulfate, copper sulfate, potassium iodide, thiamine mononitrate, manganese proteinate, manganous oxide, ascorbic acid, vitamin A supplement, biotin, calcium pantothenate, manganese sulfate, sodium selenite, pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6), vitamin B12 supplement, riboflavin, vitamin D supplement, folic acid.

I have a friend that has been feeding the Kirkland (Costco) lamb and rice for probably 15 years. Her dogs look GREAT and are very healthy.

I just rescued a shepherd that was being fed Costco food and he was literally itching his skin raw.  His owner said that he self mutilated but once I changed his diet he stopped itching. He doesnt pull out his hair with me so it must be that his diet was really poor. His coat hair is broke on the ends and is in very poor shape. If your going to feed it, I would definitely recommend a suppliment.
Innova makes Healthwise a lower brand of their food made for kennel feeding. Ive fed it and its not too bad. I just havent found anything thats better than raw. I used to feed Barking at the Moon that was $80.00 a bag and its actually cheaper to feed raw than that. You could also consider Nutro they offer bucks back for breeders and for every 5 bags you get one free. That might work for you.

Three of the first five ingredients are rice, which is way too much and why it's so cheap. Also, it contains Beets, a known problem for dogs.

by Uglydog on 24 December 2009 - 03:12

Fine, take the first 12 Ingredients, only 3 are Rice.

Lamb, Lamb meal, (whole grain brown rice, rice flour, white rice), Egg product, cracked pearled barley, chicken fat (mixed tocoperols & Vitamine E), beet pulp, potatoes, fishmeal, flaxseed

Dog loves it.
I suplement cod liver and Flax oil with table scraps.
So far so good.
If it isnt working, I will know within weeks
Very  food sensitive.

I said it isnt the best food out there, but the ingredients for $22 seem very good.
There is none left after putting it in the bowl!

OK, so out of the 40 or so ingredients, three of the biggest ones are rice. Whatever.

 Ugly,
I feed Kirkland food for a while but switched to Diamond Naturals (Chicken). Kirkland was nice but I live 5mins from TSC so thats why I picked Diamond. I also feed Raw Turkey from White Water Processing in Harrison. I would give that a try, 40lbs for 6 bucks.

Good Luck

I feed a cheap brand but by the time I pay for what I add to the food it probably isn't really so cheap.
Maybe its all in how you look at it.
