Who is Michael Elllis? What is his background? Has he ever competed at the World  Level in Schutzhund or Ringsport? I see when you google his name he is has done seminars and has a school but, what 's the story on what he has accomplished ?

Michael Ellis is pretty well known in Schutzhund and particularly ringsport circles so I am surprised that you have not heard of him.  I believe he prefers training to competing but it is not because he could not compete at the highest levels if he wanted to.  While he might not compete, dogs he bred and people he has worked with have competed and done quite well on the world circuit.  I think that Michael is easily one of the most talented trainers in the United States and the dogs he has bred and/or trained is the proof in the pudding so to speak:

I have been to his seminars annually for 7 years now and highly recommend him to anyone even if all they are doing is AKC obedience.

I seen his training videos and I think he is very talented trainer. Is always a pleasure to see him training. He is in my books best trainier right after Bernhard Flinks. if I can ever be half a trainer as these two I would be very happy man.

Michael's main focus is in the ringsports expecially Mondioring. basically any dog in Mondioring that is doing anything is due to or influenced by Michael and his partner. He breeds under the kennel name Loups du Soleil, look his kennel name up. He has helped many people get to the world level in the malinois world. He himself enjoys cross training in the protection sports. He and his crew often have dogs that show in schutzhund, frenchring and mondioring and sometimes psa (Donna and her dog Jackson). From talking to Michael I do not get that he himself is a die-hard competitive person, such as Ivan who would compete in a parking lot probably if challenged, but he did win the Mondioring 2 national championship last year. This year he will be going for his Mondioring 3 with a dog he bred and trained, as are all his dogs, and I have heard he will be putting in to show at the worlds in Mondioring.

What I learned about this guy is that his just a regular guy that loves to train dogs. He is very humble in my opinion. And ready to learn from any one. I especially liked when he admitted that his current training methods was picked up from a lady that train only in AKC obedience, and than he advenced his method to what they are today. He very openly admitted some mistakes that he made when he perfected his method. He is not trying to take credits for the method he is using, he openly states is just different veriation of what been around for a while, plus minus few things that work for him. I hope I will get a chance to go see his seminary, it would be def a guy worths seeing.

Love to give an opinion but that will just stir up the pot. Objective views are frowned upon here by the masses.  See, most people have a tendency to view their dogs as their children, insult my dog, insult me.  If you don't have my breed, you're an idiot and know nothing about dogs.  If you have my breed but don't have my bloodlines, you're an idiot and you know nothing about dogs.  If you train in my sport but don't train with me, you're an idiot and you know nothing about dogs.  My helper/decoy is the best and if you don't train with us, you're an idiot and you know nothing about dogs.  Bottom line, if there were one dog that was the "best", he/she would win every event entered.  If there were one breed that was the "best", it would win every event entered.  If there was one "trainer" that was the "best", he/she would win every event entered.  Look at the trial records for French Ring and Schutzhund and they will give you the answers to your question.  I'd say look at Mondio but I really don't hold it in the same regard as the other two disciplines.

My point exactly, because you went to his seminar, that makes it "the best".  Thanks for the coal, I'll use it for heat.  Check the scores while I get the meds, Fruity Pebbles are my favorite.  Maybe after you check the scores, you could click on the spell check feature, I believe it's spelled courteous.

First off for full disclosure Mike is my friend. But I don't know if he is the best the best trainer around. As he competes more we will see. I do know he is in my personal top 5 trainers. But where I think that Mike is the best is his ability to teach. Mike is the best teacher of bitesports in the US. I'll kick your ass if you try to say otherwise.   He idoes not focus on putting people on the podium, he is into making the sports accessible to the least talented among us.

Leerburg has bunch of free videos on YouTube; check out Mike for yourself.
