ShelleyR

I DID want to be "Home for Christmas", but New Years will do. ;-) Depending on the weather and how fast I can get everything I need to do done this week, I am planning to leave for California as soon as the end of this week. No. I will not drive in ice or snow, but as long as the roads are in good shape, California here we come!
I need 3 three #500 crates. Anybody wanna get rid of a few? LOL
This would have been SO much easier in October... All those dreams of a white Christmas ya'll have been broadcasting are liable to be a nightmare for me!

Congratulations Shelley, I have some extras here, but it won't do you much good from where you are at...lol
Come and get them though....
Drive safe and Merry Christmas...

Will trade 500 crates for 700's - cleaning off chicken-dung included in the deal.

 Shelley,

There is a storm coming through now. Be sure to check road conditions as you travel westward. If you are far enough south, it may not matter, but anywhere through the mid-west in the middle part of those states, depending on what day, may get you a storm after tomorrow.

Drive safely and best of luck.

Yahoo girl!  Glad you are on the way home.  Please be careful of that weather.  We are expecting a blizzard here in the Wichita, Ks. area by Christmas eve.  I can guarantee I-70 will be closed should it be on your way.  Keep us posted so we know where you are and how you are doing.

I'm strapping the three 700's, nested, on the dog trailer for when I get where I am going. I'm going to need them. Can't believe I actually got them back last night. They are kind of sentimental to me, for reasons I won't go into here. SO glad to have gotten them back.

The plan is to head south-eat through KY, Nashville, West out I-40, Memphis, Little Rock, Amarillo, Albuquerque, Gallup, Flagstaff, Needles (good old Needles...LOL) across the Mojave (not historically a lucky stretch of road for Shelley Ha ha ha)
Barstow (another real tourist stop) over the Tehachapi Pass to Bakersfield, then north up Hwy 99 to MO-des-to.
If I have to drop farther south to avoid weather in the southern Rockies in NM/AZ, or hold up East of there to let weather pass, road crews do their magic, then I guess I just do.

This will be my first time over I-40 East of albuquerque, but the rest of the way "home" probably hasn't changed much.
I don't plan to do a lot of driving at night, but once I hit the road I will probably not do a lot of stopping. This trip isn't going to be any vacation, as usual. Just stopping to walk dogs every 4 hrs. or so adds so much time and work to a road trip that recreation and relaxation don't factor in.

When I win the lottery I'll take a REAL vacation. (Maybe)

I won't have a lot of internet access, can't drive and enter text very well, (can't post here from my I-phone for some reason) but will try to share a few experiences from the road. X your fingers they are all GOOD experiences. Ha ha ha.
