Krazy Bout K9s

by Krazy Bout K9s on 19 December 2009 - 21:12

Okay,
I have asked this breeder one other time to take back one of her dogs, the other one was a one yr old female puppy, not fixed, and the breeder said, once they are gone I don't want them back. Pissed me off big time...she was also, very rude.
This time, I called her about a 4 yr old supposedly working female, great lines, and she said she doesn't want the dog back because the people spayed her...she is tatooed. The people brought Mira back, to the breeder, at 2 yrs old to breed her and had a litter from her...The lady was again very rude to me on the phone. Asking me why the people spayed her and she didn't want the dog. I told her to call the owners and find out. She did and wouldn't take the dog back...The owners can't care for the dog anymore.
AVAILABLE: HELP PLACE THIS DOG. I DON'T HAVE ANY MORE ROOM....
So here is her pedigree and a not too good photo of the dog, taken with their cell phone. The breeder does have photos of the dog on the rag and a standing shot, on their news page... Dogs name is Mira...kennel name is Sapphire Mountain Shepherds, Montana and she does advertise on here...and yes I am slamming her for unprofessional conduct...you can blame me all you want, but I am tired of not getting help with the breeders around here, placing their own dogs.... AND SHE IS HAVING (4) YES THAT IS RIGHT FOUR MORE LITTERS PLANNED IN 2010!!!! SHIT!!!!!! HELP!!!! I would not recommend this breeder to anyone around here and I do get people asking for breeders when they insist on a puppy...this one just lost out again...

My policy is and always has been...if you wont take back what you breed then you shouldnt be breeding dogs. Since when is a breeder not responsible to at least help somone place one of their own dogs. But at least now I know who not to send people to because I get requests all the time.
You didnt mention what you were asking for the dog. I have someone looking right now so if you want to PM direct that would be fine too. Id be happy to post her on my Petfinder site if that would help you out.  What commands does she know?

Thanks Bhaugh,
I am listing her on my petfinder site, I just don't have any more room right now and more dogs coming in than I know what to do with. I haven't received her from the people yet. They are in Eastern Montana, Billings. If I don't have to bring her into rescue, just get her directly from the people that are giving her up, I dont' have to get anything out of it.
Email me directly, and I will give you their names.
I am just trying to get them out before they come in...if I can...

I don't know what commands yet. They said she went through their training camp, whatever that means...email me and I will send a pic of her on the rag...

Everyone is in dire straights right now and they are having four more litters this coming year...it just really pisses me off. I am on the rampage today and not the RAG either...lol..

 Steph,

I feel for you. But I will tell you again what I have told you and others before. In my 15 years of being involved in GSD rescue, ONE breeder, and ONE breeder only, when contacted about her dog, took the dog back. Granted, he was only 4.5 months old, but she did step up. Almost all breeders say they will take a dog back, but the truth is it is NOT TRUE. They always have a reason why they cannot do so.

Just this last week I took a dog whose breeder lives in the state. When contacted, no, she would not take the dog, for a variety of reasons. Fortunately, in this case I was able to place the dog quickly.  I can no longer pay to care for the dogs. And I get call after call and email after email to take them. Someone even drove into my property today asking me to take the two dogs he "rescued" and could not keep!!!

People talk a big line, but when push comes to shove, they are NOT going to help you, or take the dogs back they bred. Period. The bottom line is that most rescues have to give up trying. I know I have and as soon as I can, I am taking steps to notify all concerned of that fact.

Don't let it pull you down. You can only do so much. And what you can do you must be prepared essentially to do with very little help in any way from others. That is the cold, hard fact of the matter.

How is your injury coming? Any progress in being able to see again?

Regards and try to have a Merry Christmas. Looks like you will be sending some cold Canadian air our way.

Steph, Hodie, what you do is amazing and thank you. I recently took in three rescues (I'm not a rescue)  and am trying to make room for a fourth. We breed on a very small select scale here but we all know things happen. Suddenly it all seems to be happening that people are having hard times or whatever. Those of us who rescue or help rescue, are having hard times too but we still make room and when we can't, we reach out. I take my dogs back if need be. End of story, I never want to hear that a dog who came from a breeding of mine suffered in any way or couldn't be placed. This little life came into the world and is my responsibility for the life of the dog as far as I am concerned. Case closed!!
Steph, if  we had room for that dog of yours, even though not mine, it would be on a plane right now coming to a warm and safe place.

A rescue story:  I could not take an older bitch of mine back one time as I was full up, actually past full up and the bastard dumped her off at animal control, not even SPCA.  Another acquintance picked her up for me and kept her until I re-homed her;  this was a really nice dog I had sold to a FRIEND that dumped her off to this guy that dumped her off at the shelter.

Happy ending though, my sister adopted her and she lived happily ever after;  but what a nightmare.

Thank you to you Hugel zum Tal! If more people REALLY did what they could, it would be a different world, on all accounts.

How are you doing Steph,
Well I hope.

Sorry for your dilemma, you know what I think, no need to bring that back up.

Merry Christmas anyway,
Moons.

Hi Steph,

I am so sorry that this "breeder" won't take the dog back.  I have been contacted about her dogs in the past as well.  I will keep Mira in mind and contact you if I get anyone wanting an adult spayed female.

I contacted Karen Courtney at the Montana GSD Rescue a while back and gave her my tattoo information for the dogs I produce and definitely want to be contacted if one of my dogs is ever turned in (almost all of my puppies will have tattoos starting with KL--- in their right ear).  While I am grateful there is such an organization like yours, I do not feel that you should have to take care of a puppy that I chose to produce.

Merry Christmas,

Farrah at Kaykohl Land German Shepherds
Kalispell, Montana
