I know the subject of taping has been discussed several times, but I would like some opinions.I have a 4 month old female, whelped August 9,2009.I have spoken with her breeder, she has a litter mate of my pup and she said she was going to tape.I,m not sure whether to wait a while or not, I don't want to wait untill it is to late. She is on a combination raw and kibble diet fed on different days. She gets plenty of raw meaty bones to chew on. H ere is a picture of her and a link to her sire and dam, please tell me what you think and why.Her ears have been this way for about 5 weeks with no change.

Firstly, they dont look totally "steady" down if you know what I mean, they dont look like they wil stay down.  Thats the positive.
Secondly - they are large ears, thats a negative.
Have you had them checked for an infection.  Have you looked to seeif her gums are extra sore?  Both will cause loppy ears.  You are giving lots of raw bones to chew - good for muscles, but may cause sore gums, which will slow down the process of the ears if they are going to come up on their own.  does dhe get taken out lots of different places, does she geet lots of stimulation to make her use her ears - not noise, but lots of different things to see and concentrate on.

Do you want to breed from her?  My feeling is that if you want to breed from her be brave and leave them.  Why?  Because if you tape, they will go up, 98% of the time, but who are you kidding when you have puppies, or will you then have to start a whole row of taped ear pups to be sure they will come up, and you are giving yourself a lot of hassle for little reward if so.

If you dont want to breed from her, then get em taped, job done.

Good luck with  her,  Mo - Mascani.

I think you shouldn't bother, your pup's not 4 months old yet. However her ears will be "up" shortly after 5 months, but surely b/4 6 month. I expirienced it. I even wrote complaints to the importer, but as i write now, she's 5 months + 2wks, with excellent ears(i mean real excellent: her ears could even be sold in germany). Yours, could slightly differ, notwithstanding, her's will go-up. It's just that they're coming-up late. I noticed her forearms(d growth points), meaning she has a lot of growth to make. Go now to bed, sleep, sleep n recieve ur surprise when u wake-up in d next 4 wks or thereabout.
