Because this is the General Topics board, and I have been told that a lot of the Dobie folks had not learned of this, I regret to inform the Doebermann community of the passing of Dan Brigham a couple of days ago. Cause of death has not been dtermined. However, he collapsed after returning home to find that his home had been burglarized and trashed.
Dan switched to gsds, but his wife, Nancy remained with the Dobies.
Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Her home, which should be a place of comfort at thsi time, has also been taken from her.
A service is planned for Friday. Ann Marie Chaffin will eulogize her good friend. Another memorial will take place in Denver at a later time.
Condolences and best thoughts to his family and friends.

Mystere,
I am VERY surprised to hear this as Dan was a relatively young man. i am very sad for Nancy. Dan was a fine ambassador for the sport and was always a very helpful person. I have seen repeatedly his posts on some of the Schutzhund listserves, and particularly am reminded that he has offered help over and over to rookies. He always gave sound advice.
He also was a gracious person when it came to helping out. When my club started out, he and Nancy both gave freely of their time to help my very small club run a conformation show, even though it was for GSDs (and they were not participating because they had Dobermans). If possible, please PM me with an address for Nancy as I would sincerely like to send a card to her. If you have none, perhaps I can contact AnnMarie and pass my condolences on in that way.
I will remember Dan with good thoughts and may he be now reunited with all the dogs and people he has loved.
Dan was a good man and I am sure many will miss him very much.

I'm so very sorry to hear this. My deepest condolences to Dan's family and friends.
What a horrible thing. Has anyone been arrested yet? I so hope they're quickly caught.

Many rookies both in person and who read some of the listserves benefitted from the advice offered by Dan. He will be missed. Thank you Mystere. I sent a letter to Nancy today.
