We've had her for about 1 1/2 years now. I just happened to catch her in a natural stack. She is around 4 years old and we don't know any history on her except that she was harshly treated. Oh, she has "dip" on her top line just beyond her withers, but that is just hair that is not laying well- she is a long coat, as you can see around her ears. Her color is slightly richer than what the photo shows and due to her feet feathers her feet appear long, but they are not.

First let me thank you from the bottom of my heart for rescuing this lovely girl.  Our first girl it turns out was abused too.  She carried some of that baggage to her grave but she overcame most of it and learned to trust us with all of her heart.

So much hair confuses me but I will try.  She appears to be of medium bone, good pasterns, well balanced, maybe a little long in the thigh but not overly angulated.  Her shoulder looks good.  Nice depth of chest.  That dip in her back confuses me and makes the rump look high or the withers low but it could just be all that hair.  The croup looks a little steep but I think the tail set is ok.  The head and neck look proper, the earset is good and her color is rich.  The only thing that really bugs me is her back and I can't quite put my finger on it.  Maybe someone else can tell us what it is about the back.  Maybe it's just because it is so straight with no slope due to her not being stacked.  I'm no expert but I think she is a pretty nice girl.

Thank you! I can understand why the hair confuses you! Below are a couple of other pictures, although I doubt they are of any help. From what little I know, I'd say she is a little weak in the back. Her rump is a the same height as the withers.  I know very little about how to judge conformation. I can take in the "whole" picture and know that something doesn't look right or balanced, but I certainly can't evaluate as you and others here on the board can do.

I think my girl will also carry some of her past to the grave, but she is sweet and even tempered as they come and I love her dearly.

Kelly,
I know she is not the epitomy of great conformation. I just love learning and would just like to hear a few crtiques on her. It is ok of you pick her apart- I sincerely am ok with that.  She will be beautiful in my eyes no matter what

Yes, I'd say her rump is too high. The standard calls for a slight, unbroken slope from neck to tail. Even if she was hand-stacked, with that hind leg pulled back a bit further, she obviously isn't going to have that.

I like her shoulder and angulation, and in the photos, it looks like she has good reach.

P.S> Starrcharr, please PM me your e-mail. I'm still wanting to send you that pedigree you said you'd like to see!

do not be fooled, my dear.  she has the old style herding confirmation.  true, she is not a showdog.  she is just fine as she is for what she is.  glad she has found a loving home.  :)
