Dear Sarah,

I want to thank you for trying to help our department in obtaining a new service dog. Our K9 - Taro is being retired after 7 years of service to this department and the city. We are looking for funding or the donation of another K9 that will be used during regular patrol to detect narcotics on our highways and also in our local schools. I have included a link to our city website. Hurricane Katrina has taken a toll on our city budget and property tax revenues, so it is necessary that we obtain outside sources such as grant funds or donations. I appreciate anything that you can do to help the department.

This department can apply to Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio TX for a dog.  They donate dogs that don't fit their program to but would be suitable for Civilian Law Enforcement agencies at no cost!  I just assisted in placing one of these very dogs to an agency in Arkansas.
