Anybody know (have a scale? can find out?) the actual weight of a #500* airline crate, rigged to fly?
*approx. 28-30"w x 40"l x 30" high, ala PetMate, Vari-Kennel, others, whatever...
Thanks!

Hi Shelley,
You going somewhere, or just thinking about it?
I've got the scale but no crate to weigh.
Can you go to the manufacturer online for specs?

The chart at Continental Airlines says 31lbs. Then you have to account for filled frozen water dishes and absorbent bedding.

Flew a dog in Oct. to TX and the crate by itself was 34lbs.
Add to that your food/water cups and whatever absorbant material you are putting in the crate.
I used towels, came out to 35.5lbs
Hope this helps.

I am trying to help get an adult male dog home to his breeder on the West coast as excess baggage. Total must be 100 or less. Don't have an exact weight on the dog yet, but I don't think he's gonna make it under the max, and he's too big for a smaller crate.
Thanks guys...
