I know there's a wanted section, yeah, yeah. I'm posting it here. Please don't turn it into a bashfest, I'm asking nicely.

My fiance's Army seargent needs a dog. His budget is $1-1.5k. Dog MUST be within driving distance of the Chicago/Milwaukee area, I will not pick him out a dog sight unseen. Nine months to two years, obedience/protection training is not necessary but crate trained is important, house manners would be nice, too. This dog is for companionship and home protection, doesn't need to be a beast but he needs a dog that will naturally bark at the door or if someone is screwing around trying to get in.  Color/line/gender is a non issue, just has to be a nice, healthy dog that will deter break-ins and keep his wife company when he's gone.

I know his budget is a touch low for the current market, but he's served our country for many years, his son is in Iraq right now. I know we have a lot of military supporters on this board so I'm hoping to find him a good dog at a fair price.

You can PM me or email me pics, pedigree, and price vonisengard@comcast.net

Thanks, guys.

Check out: http://www.vonfenja.com/ thy have the full sister to my dog for sale, "Olli", my dog is a great dog and looks just like Olli, shes a good barker if she hears a noise, very friendly and a great companion.  Healthy also so far.

KCjaza,

Why don't you save him a lot of money and check out the local GSD rescue groups?  They could very well have exactly what he needs.  We're not talking about needing a Schutzhund prospect and most GSDs will bark at unknown noises outside the home.  I bet Steph in Montana has just what you are looking for, contact her.

Steph goes the extra mile to get a dog to a good home whether she drives it there or flies it there.  She is very picky where her dogs go but if your fiance's seargent fits the bill, she will move heaven and earth to place that dog with him.

Good luck!

KCzaja,

I sent you an email w/2 boys that are excellent possibilities. I have known both of them their entire lives. No hidden issues, no surprises! ;-) The price range is a tad low, but not impossible....as long as your seargent friend meets my criteria! LOL.

Debisue- I do know of a few GSDs that need homes, I just rehomed a foster that would have been perfect...I'm checking out all possibilites. Feedback already has been awesome, I plan on looking all them over in detail tomorrow, its late and I'm exhausted!

KCzaja,

Good luck in your search.  I'm sure there is the perfect dog out there for them.  Good to hear so many have replied!

Kelly,
your army sergeant sounds great. If he lived close to me and I liked him I would give him my 8 year old healthy retired SchH2 V-rated girl on spay cost who loves to be a couch potato but barks wildly when somebody strange comes to the house (she likes to act). But we would never retire her out of visiting distance and we have a contract that she is to be given back to us if no longer wanted or able to be cared for.
Maybe, there is a reputable breeder up your area who would do the same for one of the cherished retired girls!
Just a thought!
