Two Moons

by Two Moons on 03 December 2009 - 19:12

Twenties are in my forecast,
Time to add new bedding to the dog houses and prepare to be breaking ice in water bowls.
Mine love cold weather, but they would rather be next to the wood stove at night.
I'll take frozen ground over mud any day of the week.

Are you ready for winter?

My dogs are ready but I'm not, physically or emotionally. I guess I can't complain as our weather has been phenomenal up until now.  I knew it couldn't last forever.

Puppers loved the first snow.  I too would much prefer snow to mud, especially with a LSC, a regular coat is bad enough.

Come on now Moons, the temp here, as I write, is about 8 degrees F and the temps this night will go well below 0. In addition, there is some wind, so windchill factor is about -5 to -10. It is snowing lightly at the moment, but the accumulations should be only minor. None the less, I am getting too old for this kind of cold. My body aches and is stiffer than normal.

Worse yet, I have to go give a final exam. I am sure the students would prefer to stay home too! The dogs? Well, they are warm and cozy in their kennel that has radiant heat.

Chin up!! It could be worse.

I don't mind the cold, the 2 young dogs love the snow. But I gotta worry about Lexie with this. (Especially the ice!.)
I will take snow, mud is messy, but tolorable, the ice terrifies me!

I am just getting over the Winter that would not end, with no Spring, and barely a Summer, and now going into Winter again.

Am I ready? Got no choice, but to be. Hopefully, Winter wil be KINDER this year!

I'm ready, it's just winter. Besides it doesn't freeze here. It's California after all.

I to would rather have cold and dry then wet and muddy. As long as i can keep the dogs dry i,m happy (so are they) .

Better to be Cold and Dry, if it is a cold dry day then the sun may come through although there is no heat it feels better
I hate the rain and Mud I get plastered everytime i put the leash on Izzy, I almost am giving up on washing my coat and smock we have had rain nothing but rain a lot of the time writing this at 10.40 in the evening it is still raining
However Christmas is round the corner and then Spring something to look forewards too, so life is not too bad

It is really cold here too Moons.  Everyone south of me got snow but all we got was an inch of cold rain.  Never fear--snow is predicted for tomorrow and more cold cold temps.  Dogs are loving it--they run in and out the doggy door most of the day......tho they sleep in their warm beds at night.  But Hodie I am like you--my body is getting older and as more arthritis sets in the less I care about the cold weather.
