Acana I do think is very good as well... Acana if I am not mistaken has been around for many years now, and in more recent times introduced the grain free formulas. I have just bought a couple of bags of the Acana prarie harvest to raise a couple pups of mine on it... the calcium is quite a bit lower then the orijen puppy or any of the adults so should help them grow slower.
So I don't have experience with Acana, but talking with a few very experienced people it does get recommended. I have fed all of the orijens with good results... my girls seem to pack on the weight with it though... it is a rich food, and I honestly don't think many dogs need the calories and high protein in it

My dogs all do extremely well on this food. Better than any food I have ever used.
Poop is much better and smaller, and none of the dogs ever try to eat poop when they are fed this food.
That is saying a mouthful (pun intended) because I have a few that are experts at poop eating!
Their weight is also excellent and their coats look awesome!

I have fed Orijen and to me it is the best food on the market for older dogs, At the moment Pup Izzy was fed on large breed Acana, now she is 6 months old i have just changed to Acana Adult , not the Large breed Acana and i rate this next to Orijen
The reason i am feeding Acana adult and not the large breed is the little difference in Calcium and Protein levels
I want her to grow steady not over quick, When she becomes an adult i intend to feed half Orijen Large breed and half Acana large breed, but maybe the Pacifica fish to go with the Orijen, but for now Acana Adult
To this food as good as it is i put on the morning feed Salmon Oil and a Vitamin E tablet every other day a Brewers Yeast and Garlic Tablet, an all in one Tablet, and that is it, except when i have a few Greens and Carrots over from dinner i give the dogs those as well, I always feed dogs twice a day half the ration in the morning half at night then they are never full of food and better for there digestion

So am hoping the Orijen will work as I could not get the Acana (Chicken) so went with Orijen Senior, I also have a 8 months puppy growing up (not a Shepherd) but a Samoyed; known for growing too fast also. I am hoping the Senior will not grow her up too fast as it has less calories and protein than the adult. I'll let you know if it works, otherwise it is exactly like the Orijen adult chicken. Thanks to all for the info.
PS I also have not poop eaters but grazers, and they love mud. All of them, that is what makes me think they are not getting what they need. Some are just pigs but grass, roots and mud. Really hate that.

My dogs are fed RAW and some kibble. TOTW has disappointed me in change of color and texture in my dog's stools.
Orijen leaves a minimal odor and smaller harder darker stool. It more closely resembles stool from RAW diets. I feed puppies and adults this kibble with great results.
