For the last few days, Baily's been having alot of eye goo, i have to clean out a few times a day. some people say its allergies, but she 3 years old and we have never had a problem with allergies before, she is a indoor dog. and she stayed in a pet hotel last week end. Do you think she might have caught something from the hotel? infection? allergies? If you have any over the counter suggestions for me to consider, please let me know. It is kind of yellowish. I have some anibiotics for dogs, that belongs to Keizer from last year when he was attacked by my friends jack russel. would it hurt her to give her the antibioticS.

Go to another vet;  but I would not wait a week if this worsens.

If the antibiotics are tetracycline based and are out of date, throw them away!

If it is just her eyes, you can buy polysporin eye drops without a prescription at your local pharmacy. If she's coughing or otherwise seems sick, as well as the eye gunk, I'd find another vet.

why would you have antibiotics left over?

go to another vet, this could be a number of different issues.

conjunctivitis(sp), sinus infection, tooth infection, allergies, or any a number of other things.

do the right thing and go do another vet, your regular vet will understand.

The dog almost certainly picked up an eye infection at the "pet hotel". Get some topical antibiotic drops ASAP. I would suggest something broad spectrum. Don't wait. It will only get worse and could lead to more serious consequences. You might try asking a pharmacist what over the counter eyedrops are available in your area if you cannot get to a vet. Be certain to suggest the infection is likely bacterial....probably a conjunctivitis. Best of all worlds, get the dog to your vet and get the meds from the vet.

Good luck.

There are to many what if's, get to a vet. Has picked up something. Call the hotel see if they will admit to anything.

Like everyone else has said.....just go to another vet.
Infection of any kind is not something you want to "wait n' see" about.....or try to "doctor" yourself.

No, she is not caughing. acts like she feels good, eating and acting normal. Its just her eyes, and they are not too bad. I will take her to another vet,  in the morning, I just really like my vet, because she is in it for the animals not for the money. All the big town vets always want to do all unnesasary test and load you with a huge bill. You know when you have a baby, and the baby is not feeling well and you ask for advise from another parent, im just doing the same thing with my dog as I do with my children. A doctor and the insurance company would think you were crazy, if you took your child to the doctors office, everytime you thought something was wrong with him/her. Oh and the antibiotics that I have left over from keizer, is because we lost the first bottle on day one, and had to buy another  one and found the first bottle behind this little compartment in my dash. I saved it and its only 7 months old. Thanks sun silver for the advise, I was thinking the same thing, I've only used it twice and it seems to be working. Im pretty sure it is a bacterial infection she picked up at the pet hotel.
