It is impossible to say without seeing the pup/helper in action, as well as you interacting with your pup, however, I would pose this question to you, how experienced is your helper, especially with young very inexperienced pups? Theresa

Let me guess her reward was food, it always came from your hand and she focuses on you or where the food actually came from, rather than on helper? Another point is how long did the helper been working her for? Was it just first time? Second? Or tenth. Since she is 11 months and let say wasn't worked by a helper before she is most likely not interested in him, she dose not understand the game, so it's up to the helper to create the interest and take her focus from you to him. This is why dog's should be worked from early on, and not wait for a year. It's an easy fix if the reason for the lack of interest is not lack of drive. Some dogs especially DDR lines take longer to come out of their shell. Make sure your helper wont rush her I seen it being done by way too many so called experience helper. Puppies like yours take time to switch them to the game mind set, and should be approached with patient. Make sure your helper is experience and patient enough to be able to bring the game out of her.

BTW when I train my own pups the focus is always on the toy, I make sure that the dog understands that the toy is one of the most important part of the game, and I am just the initiator of the game, I never use food. Doing that you get the dog to focus to you to start the game and to focus on the toy to continue the game, so you get best of both worlds.

Cliford either add something constructive or keep your remarks to yourself. How is the sale of that "top breeding or sport" dog going? LMAO
