Hey All,
I just received the pink papers for my bitch from Germany. She'll be 2 in March. I was searching through the old threads looking for one I had seen a long time ago that showed what to write where. I can't seem to find it now.

Also, do you recommend sending AKC the original "pink papers" I have or will they accept  a copy of the originals? In the old threads were also quite a few folks displeased with AKC for losing or not receiving the pink papers.
First time submitting papers to AKC, and I'd like to get it right the first time. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

thanks guys

AKC will accept clear photocopy as long as all info is there.

You right in on the very back your info as present owner - name, address, date, signature.

Do not forget the Bescheinigung - contact Sabine Lieb at SV if you have not already done so to make sure that you are the documented owner in Germany. The AKC will need this KC ownership.

Thank you Klaus.

I don't know that I am the documented owner yet. I think it may still be under Mr. Kubczak's name.
It has his name on the front, with his signature on the front and then again on the back. Do I fill in my name and address where it says "Eigentumswechsel"?. The place that says "Unterschrift des Verkaufers" is where he signed.

So will that mean I need to send it in to the SV in my name first and then wait until I get them in my name to send them to AKC?

Sorry for my ignorance, appreciate you help!

Best thing to do is e-mail Sabine Lieb. She will tell you exactly what to do to get the Bescheinigung. I believe there is a charge but you can use a credit card and they will do it through a German bank.

I don't have her e-mail on hand and I can get back to you. Sabine is the SV official liason with the AKC. The AKC has a special department for foreign dog registrations. You can call their customer service line but you have to ask to be referred to someone who does German dog registration or you might be given incorrect information.

You need to get the Bescheinigung before you send in the AKC paperwork.

You cannot use the regular AKC registration form. You have to find the one for foreign dogs on their website. This will tell you everything you need to send in to them. There are a number of things you might not expect, includes pink papers (copy), Bescheinigung, and 2 photos of dog, front and side - standing. And the fee. It may still be $50.

Thank you again, Klaus!

I will email her dierectly so as not to get any false information. I will do as you suggested. I appreciate all the help.

This female was  a gift from a friend of mine who lives in France. He went to Germany and got her as a puppy and sent her to me. We sometimes have a hard time reaching each other so I thought it may be faster to ask on here. Thank you for taking the time to explain everything.

HI Stacy
Thought you might like to know her name is LEIB (as in abdomen) not LIEB  (as in loving)
She also speaks English very well.
Good Luck!
Michele

Thanks Michele,
I wrote her already and spelled it Lieb, oops... maybe she will think I am using a term of endearment
Hopefully I will hear back from her soon :-)
