I had x-rays done on my dog yesterday and was hoping you all would let me know what you think.  She is 25 months old and the x-rays were just taken yesterday.  I wanted to know if the positioning is good and if you think they will pass.  Thanks for any comments!

First off I would like to say I am no expert. The positioning is not good the legs are rotated to far inwards. Also the right hip (when looking at the picture on here it is the one on the left) is not seated in the socket very good. It is shallow. The same thing for the left hip, but this one has a little more coverage.     I would say OFA FAIR.

Hopefully Molly will comment. She is VERY good at reading the xrays.

I wouldn't send these x-rays in.  Positioning is terrible.  One femur head looks bigger (and clearer) than the other - because one side of the pelvis is rotated closer to the x-ray than the other (twisted, crooked) - also the dog is not positioned straight, AND the knees are not turned in as they should be - and they are also different (one turned out more than the other).

Just guessing- because that's all you can do with crooked positioning and unclear x-rays such as these - I also don't like the looks of the right hip (left in the picture) - socket appears shallow, hip isn't seated well into the socket.  The other one looks better.  But this could all change completely with straight and correct positioning.  I would insist the vet does it again and does it right this time, for no charge.

Here's a closeup of the same hips......

this x-ray is not clear......
the left hip (right on x-ray) is the same as Sita's and is considered mild......too loose. might show this way because becasue the over truned leg??
the right hip is not clear enough to tell.

Hopre you didn't pay for these Xrays   and hope you did not send them yet.....Make vet retake them or find a vet that knows how.

Do not feel bad , you are one of many who has to take xrays over...better to have it done now instead of OFA sending them back to the vet and causing you to wait 45 more days or coming back with borderline and not passing because postioned showed too much slack or not good..

And do not pay any more either...Vet should know what kind of xrays are needed..Not your fault.,,it is whoever did the positioning and shot the film...

I have to agree with YR, the x-rays are of extra poor quality.....
