GAVE HIMTHE TATTOO #, TO IDENTIFY THE OWNER. HE SAID HE WOULD CALL BACK. I AM STILL WAITING IT IS 10:30AM EAST COAST.
WHAT IS HIS PROBLEM? IS THERE NOT A BOOK WITH A RECORD OF THE DOGS HE HAS TATTOOED?.
WOULD THIS BE ACCEPTABLE IF IT WAS YOUR DOG?
I WANT TO ASSURE ALL OF YOU THAT IF YOUR PET IS FOUND AND YOU CAN NOT BE FOUND, AN OWNER CAN BE GIVEN OWNERSHIP OF THE DOG, OR IT CAN BE EUTHANIZED IN A FACILITY OR EVEN GO TO A LAB FOR RESEARCH.
THERE IS NOTHING THAT WILL GET YOUR DOG BACK...................IF YOU DO NOT BELIEVE ME OR THINK I AM WRITTING HERE TO SOLICIT BUSINESS AS ONE POST MENTIONED, PLEASE CALL ME AT 1800 828-8667 AND I WILL BE ABLE TO
SEND YOU PROOF OF WHAT I AM SAYING ,
TO DATE, I HAVE NOT GOTTEN AN ANSWER E.MAIL BACK FROM THE UNITED SHUTZUND OR EVEN A PHONE CALL.
IS THIS HOW THEY WILL HELP YOU RECOVER A LOST PET?
AGAIN, I SAY YOUR PETS TATTOO NEEDS TO BE REGISTERED. IF THEY ARE NOT, NO ONE IN THIS COUNTRY CARES OR WILL GET THEM BACK FOR YOU. IT IS YOUR PET. IF IT CAN'T BE FOUND IT WILL BE YOUR PROBLEM NOT MINE.
AND YOU ARE FREE TO CALL ME IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS.
AS FOR THIS DOG, THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE HIM ARE FALLING IN LOVE, HE DID NOT HAVE A CHIP THAT WAS CHECKED
OR MAYBE THE SCANNER COULD NOT READ IT OR MAYBE IT MIGRATED.THEY HAVE HIM FOR A GOOD WHILE. I WILL BE GIVING IT ANOTHER DAY TILL NOV 13TH UNTIL I PROVIDE LEGAL REGISTRATON TO THE FINDER

As well, even if you participate in the chip programs with the more legitimate registries, if your information is sent in, at some time in the near future you should check with the program to VERIFY your contact information is correct. In more than 50% of my registrations there was a mistake!!! Finally, if you change anything, a phone number, an address or anything else, be certain to update the registry and then check back with them again to make sure they have it correctly recorded. Data entry is only as good as those who enter it. All too often the people entering such data are not terribly attentive to detail, in any endeavor.
As for Tattoo a Pet giving someone legal registration.....that is pure bunk. While a finder of a stray may end up keeping the dog, there is, as we know, only one formal and accepted registry in the US, and that is the AKC, like it or not. Tattoo-a-Pet cannot give someone "legal registration" as this poster writes above. The Schutzhund organizations do not keep registries in general and if they say they do, don't hold your breath for them to help figure out where a given dog came from.

Molly and Hodie, thanks for posting the "real" truth. Someone sounds a little too hormonal to me. OMG OMG the sky is falling, the phone should be ringing off the hook. LOL
Julie, once again get a grip. The breeder is 99% more than likely, not the owner of the dog and had no idea it was missing. He needs to gather paperwork, sit down and sort out what dog it is by the #. I'm sure he wasn't sitting right next to the phone with files in hand. People do have lives, be reasonable.
Your threats to give a dog you do not own to someone else, make you and your "registry", look less than credible.

JULIESUE,
Have you looked locally for the owner?
Posted an ad in the paper?
Tattoos seem very confusing for this purpose, chips are not much better.
If I don't pay my (home again) dues will they withhold information on my dog until I pay up?
In my experience some lost dogs were not lost, only intercepted on their way home and not allowed to continue their journey. Sometimes held for a reward, sometimes it is a scam.
This crap about giving legal registration to the finder is bogus and blows me away, takes away all of your credibility.
Nor do I like your tone.
I'll keep your number just in case for future reference.

TATOO A PET DID NOT GO ON THIS TO SOLICIT BUSINESS, BUT TO FIND THE OWNER OF A TATTOOED GSD
WITH A USA TATTOO.
HODIE THEN STATES HER OPINION OF OUR COMPANY OUT OF THE BLUE HER OPINION WITH TOTALY FALSE INFO OF HOW WE OPERATE.
TATOO A PET IS A NATONAL REGISTRY THAT HAS BEEN IN BUSINES SINCE 1972 WITH OVER 8000 REGISTERED
TATOOERS AND VETS WITH A NATIONAL SYSTEM THAT HAS TATTOOED AND REGISTERED OVER 3 MILLION PETS WITH A 99% DOCUMENTED RECOVERY RECORD. IT IS A CENTRAL .SYSTEM OF PET PROTECTION.AND, NOT A FRANCISE HEADQUARTED IN FT LAUDERDALE FL.A WELL KNOWN AGENCY TO FIND OWNERS OF TATTOOED PETS. SHE CLAIMS NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT. IT IS SHE OR HE THAT DOES NOT KNOW AND SHOULD NOT BE STATING FACTS SHE CALLS WORTHLESS. WE GET CALLS FROM AKC AND SHELTERS DAILY. PETS TATTOOED AND REGISTERED WITH US ARE PROTECTED
IMMEDIATELY UPON TATTOO, THEY CAN BE RECOVERED WITHIN AN HOUR EVEN THOUGH TATTOO A PET HAS NOT GOTTEN THE # IN THIER OFFICE YET.. IT CAN EVEN RECOVER PETS WITH TATTOOS THAT ARE DIFFICULT TO READ, HAVE A DIGIT MISSING.ETC. SHE KNOW S NOTHING CORRECT.
SHE SAYS WHAT WE SAY ABOUT LEGALLY REGISTERING THE PET IN A FINDER NAME IS BUNK SHE MENTIONS
AKC POWER AKC IS ONLY INTERESTED IN BREEDING AND SHOWING NOT THE OWNERSHIP OF THE DOG.I SINCERELY WISH SHE SHOULD GO TO OUR WEBSITE WWW.TATTOO-A-PET.COM AND MAKE APOLOGY AS TO THE INACURATE AND FALSE INFO STATED WITHOUT KNOWING FACTS..
TO FINALIZE. I CAME HERE TO FIND THE OWNER OF A PET. I DID NOT LOOK OR ARE LOOKING FOR YOU TO REGISTER YOUR PETS WITH US.
I DID TELL YOU THE FACTS WE WOULD DO AND SHELTERS DO IF OWNERS CAN NOT BE FOUND AS A WARNING
HEED IT OR NOT. IT IS YOUR PET.
MY INTEREST IS IN THE DOG NOT THE OWNER. IF I FOUND A NEGLECTED DOG ABUSED ETC, I WOULD NOT GIVE
IT BACK. WOULD YOU? IF I CAN'T FIND THE OWNER OF A TATTOOED GSD TATTOO WHAT I DO WITH THE DOG IS IMITERIAL AS HOW WOULD THE OWNER KNOW ANYWAY????
HODIE. PLEASE GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGIT BEFORE YOU WRITE FALSE ONES. APOLOGISE
READERS CHECK YOUR OWN FACTS I CAN PROVE MINE CALL ME 1 800 828-8667

You are exactly right. And doing something to see that the finder posts flyers, calls vet offices, the shelter, scans the dog for a chip etc., places ads (often free) in papers is rarely done. Just this date someone idiot called me wanting me to take a dog that was sleeping on her porch. It was in the city and I am in the country. I asked if she had taken the dog to a vet or the shelter to scan it, and she told me she could not afford that. I told her that was free. I asked her if she had done any of the things you mention above and she said "I am intelligent so I know about all that", but had done NOTHING. I told her to take the dog to the shelter or, at the very least, call the shelter to report the dog as found. She hung up. LOL......hopeless.
