I think he's a red and black sable but I'm not sure. He is currently 13 weeks old. His sire is a red and black and his dam is a black sable.

normal - dark sable.

I've seen a puppy very similar to this one at this age who ended up very dark. Sables are so hard to predict.

At this tender young age it's hard to tell how dark he will be. He's a sable alright, but how dark is just a guess. I would not expect him to turn out a super dark black sable, but he will darken up considerably.

I have a pup (about the same age too!!) with the same markings.. she was waaay lighter a few weeks ago.(husband asked why I got a golden Retriever) .... I was told she is gray but I would call it sable....

She is darkening by the day

give it a month, and it will be much easier to tell

Typical sable puppy.

You are gonna have to wait till the dog is about one year old to see how dark it will get.

This puppy will be darker sable/red sable.. definitally not black sable.

The sables change so much, it's so hard to tell at this age.

your pup is sable,pure and simple...and a nice one at that....very intresting pedigree,west german show/east german/czech.very nice.take pictures often and you'll be surprized at the color change between now and 15 months old.how dark will he get...who knows...that factor was decided when sperm met egg..diet and environmental exposure could influence it slightly,i'm sure he'll be a nice pup...as for the "CHOKE CHAIN" on such a young pup....i wouldn't be useing it......however if you're going to use one,at least get the proper length...the one shown on the picture is too long,but again,i wouldn't even use a "CHOKE" on a pup, a sturdy flat collar should be enough,but,hey,it's your pup......good luck.
