Hi, this is Addie, she is 1 Year and 7 Months old. Here is her Pedigree: http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/621157.html  it's not all that at the beginning but there are some good dogs back there.

I know she is somewhat thin but we are having a bit of trouble keeping weight on her. I am interested in what y'all think about her.

I have a female that is so active its hard to keep weight on her too!  Addie looks like a real sweetheart and has a pretty face!  Of course I've never met an ugly dog!

Please find some way to put some weight on that poor thing!  She could be pretty.

Her ribs and hips are not prominent in this photo, I would say she is extremely slight in build and that is your issue much more so than weight. Put lean muscle mass on her rather than just fat.  She is not breed quality but does not appear unsound and certainly has a bright look about her eye. Enjoy her.

Try a good quality natural supplement.  Some may not like this, but I used what is called IN.  www.dog.com/item/in-diet-supplement/221112/
It worked wonders for my lean GSD many years ago.  Try it out.  Remember as most here should have, your GSD is only over a year old.  No one here knows her lines and given her age, activity level, you may not see mass on her for some time.  As long as you've had her checked by the Vet to rule out any medical conditions, it's just her.  Try feeding her more, more times a day.  Ex: if you feed her 4 cups, feed her 1.5 cups 3x day.  That will give her .5 cup extra.  My current male was very lean just like your girl.  I took him to a pet store one day and someone had the nerve to say, "do you even feed that dog".  It pissed me off cause that person probably knew nothing about the breed, nor his activity level, age, and genetics.
Anyway, try these suggestions and give her another year, she will probably fill out just fine.
She's pretty by the way.  Very "old" school GSD, regal, pretty, smart.

I was only using 4 cups as an example.  Wanted to clearify that.
Also, give her her last meal just before bed.  If she is very active, you may need to increase her food more than the recommendation.  If you notice her getting really gassy, then back off on the amount of food.  Otherwise, she will fill out when her genetics tells her.  Oh and if she's not spayed, spay her- she will foresure gain weight.
Oh, and she's still pretty.=)

She appears to have a nice strong back and she does appear to be slight in build.  Better thin than fat but I would like to see about 5 more pounds on her.  Her feet are nice and tight,  a little too much space beneath her as she is a bit leggy but she is young and may fill out more in another year.  I think she has a sweet expression and a nice alert look to her.  I agree that you should spay her.  That should help put some weight on her.  Are you working her in obedience or agility?  What are your plans for her.  Enjoy her whatever.  She'll be your best bud for years!

Thank you all for commenting.
DebiSue:  I'm doing a bit of obedience with her.  We just started on some tracking and i'm thinking about doing the AD.

Haley,

Good for you.  Do all that you can with her.  GSDs need a job and get bored easily.  Obedience is #1 in my book and tracking is great exercise for all involved.  At our trial two weeks ago we had two dogs do the AD.  I could not believe the energy left over after trotting for 12.5 miles.  One of them was jumping up and down, raring to go another 12.5!  They are amazing athletes for sure.  Good luck to you.
