This might be a fact if one believed that animals were grown to be ingredients of dog food. The truth is that the animals that end up in dogfood are leftover parts not fit for human consumption,or animals that met their demise before they made it to their intended market. I worked on a feed lot in the Texas panhandle back in the eighties, the animals that died in transport to the feedlot or met their fate as a result of an accident while they were being fattened for market were the animals that went to dogfood ingredients.Sometimes being left in piles for days before they were picked up for processing as dog food.Often being partially consumed by coyotes and other scavengers before they were picked up.All live animals[live not necessarily healthy] went to slaughter houses

Yep, put a tax on dog food, dog licenses, veterinary care, breeding dogs, exhibiting them (tax that Schutzhund trial entry anyone?) to save the planet.
Sorry, I am not getting rid of my dogs because some idiot judge decided carbon dioxide, a molecule required for life to exist on this planet, is a "pollutant". Michael, you hit the nail on the head. The majority of dog food comes from cast-offs from the human food industry, so this article is full of inaccuracies.
