i have been puppysitting a boston that has demodectic (red) mange, my question is how worried should i be, he has been with my two gsd for two weeks

Demodectic mange is not contagious or spread to other dogs. Just cleared it up with my boy and my female was never affected.
So no worries. :)

No problem. It depends really on how bad the mange is. Lukas still has some hair to grow, but it did not take long to see improvements. We used Ivermectin.
