I forget to mention that she has been on B12 shots 1X a week for 6 weeks. This is her last week of the 6 week cycle. Now, 1x every 2 weeks for six weeks. We will check her blood  after that.

Hi,
First posting for me. I just wanted to thank everyone for their help in understanding this crazy SIBO.  We have rescued many German Shepherds and none of them have been as sick as my new girl Lady. She was at a recuse for about three weeks, they said she possibly had guardia. Well ,looking at all her paperwork, we found out she had lost 12 pounds in about 6 weeks. Guardia test was negative, all blood work was fine, did the Texas A&M thing. Low B12 no EPI which is good I guess. She is now on Tylan, low protein dog food and probotics. Things had been fine for about 2 weeks.   Thank you everyone as my vet said no one wanted to take the time to find out  what was wrong with her. She is beautiful and just as sweet. We are her sixth home in two years so maybe when see figures out I am her last home she will get better. They say the right dog always finds you and I can say this about this girl.   The recuse nor the breeder would give any information on how to help her. They both said she had behavioral problems I think the behavioral problem is no one took the time with her she needs. Thanks again

Thank you for caring.  She is very lucky to have you in her life.

Yes, thanks so much, that is a very difficult dog to inherit.

I have a friend with a dog that (I believe) may also have the same problem..........
He is given a "Vit-B" shot regularly, and has a diet of lower protein food......no Tylan powder.
He looks great! and is doing wonderful!

My female has EPI and Sibo.  She began receiving b12 shots 1x per week 3 weeks ago and I cannot be happier with the results.  Her loose stools have been gone for over 2 weeks and her energy level has improved immensely.  She was showing fatigue during training and was not clearing the jumps, however now she shows much more energy during the jumps and blind search.   She will receive 3 more weeks of shots and then change to 1x per month for 6 more months.  I highly recommend anyone that has a dog with Sibo or EPI to have their dogs b12 levels checked.

Hi,
Just an update on Lady. She has been fine for about a month now. Gave her the last of her Tylan on 10/30. No runs since 10/10. She has gained a few pounds. B12 shot every two weeks for six weeks. Then more blood work after the first of the year.
How fast does the diarrhea come back if we need to use Tylan again? My main fear is that it will never end. Also found out she has a wheat allergy based on new vet reports from her old vets. I have removed all gluten from her diet. I believe that this allergy can cause ear infections?  She had about three or four ear infections before we got her. None since April.
