Preventic collar kill my ten months old GSD girl,I am so sad, I put the poison collar have about few inches excess hanging out the neck, she ate  just four inches, few hours she gone with painful, what can I do at home when it happen again?
I am not expect preventic is a strong poison, it is very dangerous for young dog and human baby, because they alway like to bite and eat soft things,be caution!!!!!!!!!

Is this a tick and flea collar?
I don't recognize the name.

I don't use them, but years ago  I did use them (flea collars) on a cat.
If thats what your talking about.

The instructions clearly say remove excess collar beyond the buckle.

What to do next time????
Define the poison, find proper treatment for that specific poison.

We have used Preventic with great success for about two years now.  The collars last about 4 months, and work on ticks only, not fleas, and are only suitable for dogs - NOT cats.

We had one of our dogs take the collar off another dog during play, and chew on it a bit before we spotted him, with no after effect.  The active ingredient is Amitraz, if this is of any use to anyone.

petoasis, sorry to hear about your loss, we have done the same in the past with a growing youngster, when the collar lasts 4 months, you don't always want to cut it too short as the pup will outgrow it before the collar loses it's efficacy.  We used some thread and sewed the loose piece to the rest of the collar to keep it neatly tucked and out of chewing distance.

(Plus, the Preventic collars make your dogs smell fresh and minty)
