A good place to begin is Lab Safety Supply, and their online store can be found here: http://www.labsafety.com/ . I typically look for such items first at the website of a manufacturer's representative, such as Lab Safety Supply, et al, and once I have the manufacturer's model number I look for the item on eBay or Amazon. Sometimes one can find the item as new, used, or reconditioned for less money that way.

This prolonged economic downturn has forced many smaller companies to sell surplus instruments, so sometimes a bargain can be found. I have personally dealt with Lab Safety Supply for many years and can say that they offer a full line of laboratory and testing equipment and have prompt customer service.

I bought my binocular (oil immersion, 4 turrets, Leitz lenses) scope at the UC Davis Bargain Barn some years back for only $350! Even in those days, a new one would have cost a mint. I compared mine with more expensive ones (sequential serial numbers) using some stained slides with vaginal cytology. I lucked out!
