My 9 mo old female GSD was bitten by a small rattlesnake here in western Kansas.  Fortunately for her she had received the rattlesnake vaccine about three months earlier.  Only treatment was 75 mg of Benadryl as recommended by our vet.  Swelling over the nose was impressive but limited.  No tissue necrosis or systemic effects occurred.  She is just as sweet and ornery as ever.

I didn't realize there was a vaccine! Hot damn, I can move to the desert one day after all!

That's GREAT to hear...my dogs all have the shots for when we go out into the desert. Was never convinced it would work. I guess now all I have to do is carry a few Benedryl. Thanks for the report!

I'm sorry your girl got bit but glad that the vaccine worked for her!
Also, sorry but I just had to laugh though when I saw the pics because she reminded me of Jimmy Durante! Ha Cha, cha,cha, cha!  I"m glad she's okay!
