You need a good helper!

Do you have any experience training in schutzhund?  Are you an experienced helper, or do you have one available?  Are there no clubs in your area already?

Look here: www.gsdca-wda.org/formclub.htm

The biggest issue will be a helper and then a training directer.

If you are serious, contact Danny Sprietler (WDA President).

If you can get a group together to make it financially viable, perhaps you could pay a good helper/trainer to come to you every few weeks and practise what he teaches you in a group in between.  That way, some of you could learn correct helper work and eventually become independent.

There is more to consider than just helperwork and a training director in the beginning - (not saying this isn't important)

A club consists of several people with a common  interest....obviously....    how many people do you have currently that want to train in schutzhund?  Or are you just wanting to start a club yourself and hope they will come?

If you have a helper already - that is the biggest plus in your favor - Is this helper trained in Schutzhund ....  Is this helper dedicated and will show up for training?   Is there anyone that will guide you in schutzhund?

To start -
*Funds -it takes money
* liability insurance
*power - for lights - water? lights?
*purchasing /building of blinds/jumps/poles etc
    fencing?
*You have to have a place to train - a field
*field upkeep - once you get the field established
* Fee's to join USA - WDA - also meeting each associations guidelines for membership

These are just a few I can think of off the top of my head -

If you want to start a club and you don't already have several people that wish to be members then it will be up to you to put up the money, time, and place to train.  If  you do have several people that want to be in this club - then the financial hardship and responsbilities  is less for you

You have to decide what is your purpose of starting this club - it is a lot of work getting a new club and new field up out of the "so called dirt".   Alot of work will go in to just organizing before you ever get to start training.  Wouldn't it be easier to just travel to a club nearest you?

True that, Happyday.  The club I belong to is new and still working out the kinks.  We met consistently for a year before we really started training SchH.
