It seems to me that the female is the more important in the scenario because she is the one that actually raises the pups and gives the first imprinting. We always seem to lean toward the males when it comes to who is producing the best pups...But who is the best producing female today?

I dont; know if I can explain this very well but trying not to be too philosophical, The male energy is generally the solo energy so hence we have a proven studd. But the female energy generally forms the foundation of a kennel and hence she is called the brood bitch or the foundation bitch. It once you bring the right mixing of males with the female that a bloodline develops. Alss in linbreeding the dogs around the core group of bloods also matters a lot. Keep that in mind. You will not find a female coming off as a great producer., Its the females capabilities to help the male bring out HIS best and pass it on in the progeny

regards & cheers ( How is your essay coming along?) Do post it once you have done it.

                                                                              The German Shepherd Dog

German Shepherds are among the most popular dog breeds in the world. Known for their loyalty, intelligence, beauty, and gracefulness, they are the most versatile breed ever created, being used for anything from police work, to therapy work. The creator of the breed Max vom Stephanitz quoted that “German Shepherds are the best at most things and the second best at anything else”. Stephanitz created the breed based on its great working abilities, natural protection, and fierce loyalty.
With there beautiful but powerful features the German Shepherd is known as the sport cars of canines. They should always show an alert and intelligent expression. The body should be well muscled and athletic. They should always possess an air of royalty around them. They should always be possessive and protective over their owner/family, but should be over aggressive. A German Shepherd should have balanced nerves, be easily trained, eager to learn, and should poses the natural working ability they were bred for. The breed was created in 1899 in Karlsruhe, Germany by Max vom Stephanitz. They were derived from old farm and herding dogs. The first German Shepherds were bred to protect herd sheep on German farms. The breed first reached America in 1907. The breeds popularity in America skyrocketed after the famous show Rin Tin Tin became popular in the 1920s and 30s. The star of the show was a German Shepherd nicknamed Rinty, who stole the hearts of millions of American viewers across the country. The adoration for the breed catapulted and never looked back.
They are most commonly recognized for their use as police and military dogs. Police and military dogs have many duties such as, tracking criminals, sniffing out drugs and bombs, and most importantly protecting their partners at all cost. The German Shepherds willingness to please, intelligence, trainability, and endurance make them perfect for the job. German Shepherds are widely used for many other jobs throughout the world such as; search and rescue, cadaver work, guide dogs, avalanche dogs, assistant dogs, and even just family protectors. No matter what the task a German Shepherd has proved its abilities to conquer. The breed naturally has a strong sense of duty so they need a job or hobby to keep them occupied, if not they could develop many behavioral issues. There many activities that German Shepherds excel in such as obedience, agility, flyball, schutzhund, and ring sport.
There is a lot of controversy as to whether the new form of breeding is improving the breed or hindering its capabilities as a working dog. New German Shepherd owners should make sure they purchase a puppy from a reputable breeder. Many breeders are known as backyard breeders and are breeding modern German Shepherds or American lines. The modern German Shepherds have quickly strayed away for Stephanitz’s idea of the breed. Careless breeding has destroyed the working ability of the dogs and caused diseases and other defects. This includes hip dysphasia, monochridism, missing teeth and folded ears. The modern breed has also developed many behavioral issues. Some of these dogs tend to have nervous issues and can become fear biters. These issues are common in American bred German Shepherds because in America there are no regulations on breeding and registering. In Germany a German Shepherd cannot rep

cannot reproduce unless it is titled in the German sport of schutzhund, which is a way to test the dogs ability in protection, tracking, and obedience. This insures that the breed doesn’t lose the working ability that they were created for. This test also insures that the breed keeps the correct temperament, because for the dog to be able to earn a title they must be loyal, intelligent, and easy to train. They are also required to have x rays taken on their hips to make sure they do not have the genetic disease hip dysphasia.
Before purchasing a German Shepherd be sure to research pedigrees and breeders to find a puppy that is the best fit for you and your family. It is very important to find a breeder who keeps the health, temperament, and working ability of the breed as their main focus. German Shepherds aren’t the best fit for all families; this breed requires a lot of stimulation and training from a very young age. A new owner must be ready to provide a lot of dedication to their new puppy. Obedience training is a must for any German Shepherd., and because of their naturally protective personality they will need extensive socialization starting at a very young age. This is a strong breed, not only in body, but also sprit and mind, so while growing and developing they will need firm guidance.
Although a relatively new breed of dog the German Shepherd has quickly became one of the most popular breeds in the world. German Shepherds will always be known for its versatility, intelligence and loyalty. They are respected, admired and utilized thorough the world. A German Shepherd who is raised right and trained properly can make an owner forget all other breeds exist.
