Ramage

by Ramage on 10 October 2009 - 21:10

I attempted to hand stack my 10 month old for the first time. Please keep in mind, these aren't the best stacked shots because she was moving all over the place. If she wasn't moving a back leg, she was leaning backwards, or trying to eat the grass. However, I have about 5 pics out of 30 some odd shots that I thought weren't too horrible to post. Although, they are laughable, lol.

Again, she is a 10 month old working bred West German bitch. Critiques are welcome as I am curious as to her good and bad points

Thanks!

Just a little more angle to her front shoulders;  possibly to match her rear angle.

Is this the destructive monster? She's a very nice looking female,I think you might need the help of a 3rd person out in front of her a few yards, some one to get her attention while you place her.

From these pictures, she looks to be long in the back and somewhat straight in the shoulder.

She might come together more as she matures, though, as it's not unusual for workingline pups to go through stages where they are too long or too leggy or just right.

Seeing her in movement and whether she is balanced and smooth in movement is important in evaluating her conformation, too. At this age she looks to have more rear angulation than front.

She looks like a big girl with a nice head and a very expressive face.

your girl will probably mature to look like this female: http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/120989.html

Nans - Thanks! That makes sense.

Michael - yes, this is the demon herself. I have started being frimer as suggested in the other thread and I'm seeing some small improvements.

Blackthorn - Thanks for that info. I will cross my fingers that she changes just enough to get better angle to her shoulder. I guess I won't really know what I've got until she's 2 years old or so, eh?

Uber Land - Thanks! I like that female and I do see the similarities. Perhaps my girl will do me justice by looking like her when she matures. Perhaps I can even get an SG on this one if I am lucky. I'm going to try for that maybe in another few months after we get some work done on her hand stack and gaiting.

Hi Ramage,

She looks like a nice workline bitch.Based on the pictures ,my critic of her would be as follows.

She is a large ,medium strong, grey bitch of slighty long proportions.
She has a good head and expression, level withers, a long and level back with a short and steep croup.
With good front and hind angulations, good depth of chest with a good underline.  The pasterns could be stronger. She stands strait in front.

Thank you Sonora! I also noticed the croup. I am going to play around with her stack a bit to see what leg placement helps her croup look its best. I think if her near leg is not quite so underneath, it would make her croup look better. We shall see ... I need to do a lot of work with her stack to figure out what looks best.
