Steve,
I don't know how it is over there, but unfortunately, the show you mentioned has SEVERAL Animal Cops series from cities all over the US. It is disgusting and I cannot even watch them anymore because I feel like crying, vomitting or both.
I can't wait to get back to Texas and have acreage so I can once again start rescuing and rehoming.
I have one rescue here now, it's all I have room for (a male cocker spaniel) He is an older lad and was born at a puppy mill. I hate not being able to help more. I have money automatically taken out of my little check every week to help with saving pets that come from those vile situations. Ugh I can't even write about it anymore :-(

I say, let them live how they treated their animals for a week, minimum! Then maybe they will see the light!
And, it's just disgusting that more than not get away with it! And if they are found it's pretty much a slap on the hand!
There was a case where I saw a GSD & Dobie in a small concrete fenced yard in the city and the Dobie had sores all over her. The GSD was malnourished as was the Dobie. They had no food out and no shelter to speak of and only rain water in a plastic container lid. I called and called Animal Control and never got any answer. Finally called the HSUS. They told me that my standards and theirs are very different. Dogs just need adequate food, water & shelter. They advised me if I wanted something done to complain about the smell. (justified as well since there was excrement ALL over the yard)
I did and still nothing was done. So, I took pics and brought them in and said "Now, do something!" They were there that day and the Dobie just hopped into their van like she couldn't wait to get out of there. Sadly, the GSD remained because it was in fair condition. They were ordered to clean the yard and leave and entry open for the dog to get into. The Dobie was euthanized because of the extent of neglect.
