What are your feelings on the send out to begin the actual going down field. Keep the toy (if thats what you us) above the ground or on it?.

I started Mine with the ball on top a small cone about a foot off the ground just wonder of any of your opinions?

I start it with a plant holder ( kinda looks like a shepherds hook ) pushed into the ground attach a clip to it and then the ball. I have someone hold my pup telling him with excitement "wheres the ball" ( or if by yourself tie him to a fence or pole and tease him with the ball then I attach the ball to the clip with the pup watching. This is done close to the ball, I then take my pup build more excitment and tell him "vorous" and he gets the ball. I continue this way and gradually make the distance longer and longer as he gets older. I like the ball up rather then on the ground because then the dog's nose is down as it is running down field looking for the ball, and as it is right where the ball would be the dog is sniffing everywhere looking for the ball, not a pic I want for the send out.
